First Love Only? I Left Him First, Now the CEO Can't Let Go novel Chapter 282

Chapter 282: Chapter 282: The One I Love Will Always Be You

The room was pitch black, completely invisible.

Julian Xavier was shouting, "Serena, where are you," while fumbling around.

The room was small, so he soon touched someone, but that person turned around with a ghostly glowing face covered in blood, causing Julian to scream.

"Julian Xavier?"

Serena accidentally touched the switch, and the room, so dark you couldn’t see your hand, got a touch of light.

The ghostly face disappeared. Serena saw Julian, and Julian saw Serena.

"Serena!"

Julian was clearly frightened and rushed over to tightly embrace Serena.

Considering Julian mentioned being afraid of ghosts before entering the haunted house, Serena interpreted Julian’s inappropriate behavior as being frightened.

She pushed Julian away and comforted him, "It’s all fake, just holographic projections. You’re a grown man, don’t be so useless."

"Yeah, sorry, I’m not very manly," Julian scratched the back of his head, but still leaned closer to Serena.

"Hey, Serena..."

Julian grabbed Serena’s hand, "My legs are a bit shaky... Could you help me walk?"

Serena initially wanted to refuse, but Julian’s nervous demeanor showed he was genuinely scared.

Serena was speechless.

She feared if she didn’t care for Julian, he might be scared out of his wits, so she had to hold Julian and walk together.

At this moment, they heard the anxious voices of Lana and Ethan from outside.

Especially Lana, her loud voice indicated their distance was merely separated by a wall.

Serena borrowed the faint light to search for the switch to open the door on the wall.

Suddenly, the door opened by itself, and the room was as bright as day.

Lana was the first to rush into the room.

"Serena, you’re okay..."

Before she finished "okay," Lana saw Serena and Julian’s tightly clasped hands.

Julian quickly released Serena’s hand, showing obvious disgust and guilt towards Lana while facing away from Serena.

Serena didn’t see Julian’s expression. She approached Lana, but before she could speak, Lana suddenly turned and ran out of the room.

After exiting the haunted house, the atmosphere among the four became strange again.

Ethan quietly asked Serena, "What’s got Lana upset? Does she think we’re just third wheels?"

"I don’t know either..."

Serena shook her head.

When Julian volunteered to buy juice for everyone, Serena went to Lana and asked, "Lana, what’s wrong? Why aren’t you happy?"

Lana glared at Serena.

"You know why."

"...What?"

Serena looked completely bewildered.

At this point, Julian returned and distributed different flavored juices to everyone.

"It’s getting dark, and today’s four-person date is almost over... I’d like to watch the final fireworks show with Lana."

Serena and Ethan exchanged a glance and nodded in agreement.

The two of them had overstepped in evaluating Lana’s boyfriend, and Lana had been unhappy multiple times throughout the day.

Serena and Ethan naturally decided to avoid any further awkwardness.

Julian found a spot with a good view and took Lana to wait for the fireworks show.

"Lana..."

Julian poked Lana’s puffed-up cheek with his index finger.

"Did I do something to upset you?"

Thinking about this, Lana shuddered.

She shouldn’t think of Serena in this way.

Moreover, Serena was still married!

But now Serena was publicly requesting a divorce from Caleb Lockwood.

Serena wanted a divorce yet wouldn’t accept Ethan... Could it be that Serena’s real interest was Julian?

The more Lana thought, the more confused she became, as if she wanted to mess up her carefully styled hair.

Julian sat beside Lana, propping his chin with one hand, watching Lana’s conflicted and tangled face. The sneer in his eyes was brighter than the fireworks overhead.

Meanwhile, Serena and Ethan were also enjoying the fireworks.

They didn’t pick a good spot, avoiding the crowd.

They just found a diner, sipping water while watching the fireworks, even if the distance was far, they didn’t mind.

"Do you think... I messed up today? It seems Lana isn’t very happy..."

"She’s upset, but I don’t know why she’s upset."

Ethan shrugged.

"But it’s clear that Lana really likes Julian."

"Do you think Julian likes Lana?"

"Probably likes her!"

Listening to Ethan, Serena recalled Julian’s repeated attempts at physical contact with her today.

Even though there were reasons, she still frowned instinctively.

At this point, the phone on the restaurant table rang. Ethan picked it up first; it was Serena’s phone.

"What if I say I don’t want you to answer this call?"

Ethan handed the phone to Serena, and Serena saw Caleb Lockwood’s name displayed on the screen.
