Chapter 335 Collateral Damage
This was exactly the moment to betray a childhood friend and former classmate.
Since Vincent was drowning in his own misery, he didn’t mind dragging his friend down with him.
An anonymous insider had leaked the photos online, making the already dire situation for the Nygard family even worse.
It wasn’t long before Marcelo’s call came through.
Vincent answered without a hint of surprise, his voice calm and steady.
“You gave them the photos, didn’t you? Are you trying to ruin me?” Marcelo’s furious voice exploded the moment the call connected.
He had been under relentless pressure from his parents and older relatives all week, and now this scandal was the last straw.
The pictures dated back two years, taken during a card game Vincent had organized.
Since only Vincent had access to those photos, Marcelo was certain he was behind the leak.
Vincent didn’t bother denying it.
“What else could I do?” he said bluntly. “My parents refuse to call off the engagement, so this was my only option.”
“If stirring up a scandal makes my mom break it off, then maybe it’s worth it. Come on, help me out here.”
Marcelo’s anger nearly boiled over. “I’m just as screwed as you are!”
“Exactly. We’re in the same sinking boat. Let’s drown our sorrows with a drink.”
That suggestion made Marcelo laugh bitterly in disbelief.
“You betray me and still want to grab a drink together?”
“Of course! Consider it an early celebration. Let’s hope we both get out of this mess. If Gianna gets kicked to the curb, even better.”
“I know you’ve been holding all this in. Isn’t it great that I’m helping you throw a punch back?”
“Anyway, the damage is done. You’ll just be the topic of gossip for a while. I’m the one being cheated on, and honestly, I’m not even mad.”
“So what exactly are you complaining about?”
Marcelo sneered coldly, “Heh.”
“Come on, drinks are on me.”
Marcelo’s expression darkened like a storm cloud, and in his mind, he cursed Vincent’s entire family tree.
Still, after a long pause, he finally replied sullenly, “Fine, I guess I’ll go.”
Then he ended the call.
“Tch, why does he have to act so proud?” Vincent muttered to himself.
Marcelo had always been like this since they were kids—pretending to be tough while secretly wanting to come along.
He always acted like he was too proud to ask, only showing up if begged.
What a ridiculous temper. Vincent wondered where he had inherited it from.
Meanwhile, Jeremy was the only one who consistently messaged Amelia every day.
“Amelia, want to grab dinner? I can pick you up.”
No response.
