Fiona didn't waste a second. With a swift, predatory stride, she lunged toward Josie. Before Josie could even process what was happening, Fiona had her fingers clamped tightly around Josie's throat. Instinctively, Josie twisted her body, barely managing to evade Fiona’s iron grip, but Fiona moved with almost supernatural speed.
In the next heartbeat, a sharp pain shot through Josie's wrist. With a deft twist and a bit of force, Fiona snapped Josie’s wrist effortlessly. In the stillness of the night, the crack echoed loudly.
Josie let out a muffled cry of agony, the pain barely registering before Fiona hoisted her into the air as if she weighed nothing. With a powerful throw, Fiona sent Josie flying, and using the momentum, landed a brutal kick to Josie's chest, putting all her strength into it.
Even if Josie survived, she’d be left severely battered.
"You've lost," Fiona declared, standing over her with a cold, triumphant gaze.
Josie was a mess of blood and pain, unable to utter a word.
"Don’t look at me like that. The moment you set your sights on Jackson, I knew I couldn’t let you live."
The last time Josie had escaped by jumping into the sea had been a fluke, mainly because Fiona hadn't been present.
Fiona rolled up her sleeve, revealing a cleverly concealed mini crossbow. She aimed it at Josie, but just as she was about to fire, a flashbang exploded, temporarily blinding her. The bolt went astray, but still managed to embed itself in Josie’s thigh.
Josie was swiftly dragged up from the ground and tossed into an oncoming black van. As the vehicle sped away, Fiona couldn’t help but smile.
Josie wouldn’t meet her end at Everlast Hall — the mysteries she held were still unsolved, and Fiona had intended for her escape.
Tyler instinctively stepped forward and scooped her up, just as their car arrived.
As they climbed into the vehicle, Fiona cast a glance at Jackson. She had noticed him during the fight, taking on the attackers with impressive skill. He was handsome and fought fiercely — definitely her type.
Once inside, Jasmine quickly passed out. Her back wound was deep, and the blood loss was significant, but Fiona checked her pulse and concluded she wasn't in any immediate danger. A trip to the hospital would suffice.
Meanwhile, Shelly and Jane stood frozen in shock, as if rooted to the spot.
Shelly stared vacantly at Jasmine, overwhelmed with emotion. Jasmine had taken the blow meant for her, and Shelly's heart was a whirlwind of gratitude and guilt.
