Tyler didn’t bother asking Fiona why she’d met up with that rebellious girl. Instead, he just gave her a heads-up: the Woods family had called an emergency press conference about the plagiarism scandal.
“It’s set for tomorrow at two,” Tyler said.
Fiona paused, then gave a little smile. “Sounds like we’ve got a good reason to drop by Woods Corporation right now.”
She remembered handing out those documents to everyone at Woods Corporation—each with a USB drive inside that could track who used it. Clearly, everyone thought that as long as they didn’t actually leak anything themselves, they were in the clear.
They didn’t waste any time. Half an hour later, they were back in front of Woods Corporation.
This time, no one even tried to stop them.
“Ms. Fiona, welcome,” the security guard at the door greeted her politely.
He still remembered the last time Fiona showed up—how Pearl had blocked her at the entrance, and no one dared step in. Pearl had ended up standing outside in the brutal heat until she got heatstroke. Word was, she’d landed in the ER and nearly didn’t make it.
Fiona and Tyler took the elevator up. As soon as the doors slid open, there was Pearl—talk about bad timing.
But this time, Pearl didn’t confront Fiona. She actually stepped back and nodded. “Ms. Fiona.”
Fiona walked out, and only then did Pearl get in the elevator.
Fiona heard it all but didn’t care. She wasn’t here to play games—she was here to settle scores.
The conference room was empty. Fiona waited for half an hour before tapping her fingers on the table. Right away, the manager hurried in, apologizing, “Ms. Fiona, I’m so sorry. The shareholders all said they had urgent matters and couldn’t make it.”
Fiona glanced up and noticed the Bluetooth earpiece in the manager’s ear. Instantly, she knew what was going on.
Still, she didn’t lose her cool. She leaned back in her chair and said calmly, “Tell the shareholders I’ll wait ten more minutes. With the half hour I’ve already waited, if they still can’t make it, after today, Woods Corporation won’t need them anymore.”
If it came to that, she’d transfer all the shares to Jackson. With thirty percent under his name, plus the shares in Kimberly’s hands, Jackson would have enough power to make all the big decisions—no more needing shareholder approval.
