The supervisor didn’t say a word—just nodded, defeated.
By now, it was obvious to everyone in the room: the board members were all just waiting to see which way the wind blew. With Jackson gone from Woods Corporation, none of them took Fiona seriously. To them, she was just a young woman they could ignore.
People saw what was happening, but nobody wanted to be the one to call it out. No one wanted to stick their neck out for her.
Before long, the meeting room was empty except for Fiona and Tyler. Ten minutes flew by. Tyler knew Fiona—if she said she’d wait ten minutes, she meant it. Not a second more.
“Tyler, send out the statement we drafted earlier,” Fiona said, her voice steady.
Tyler hit send. Within minutes, the news was everywhere—someone had already put it at the top of the trending list. The story was blowing up.
“We should get out of here too,” Fiona said, her tone sharp.
What a pain. Both times she’d come here, it had just been hassle after hassle. If it weren’t for Jackson, she’d never step foot in this place. It was a waste of her time.
The news caught fire faster than Fiona expected. She hadn’t realized it would get so much attention.
As she and Tyler reached the elevators, they bumped straight into Pearl. Pearl had already heard that Fiona got snubbed today and was practically giddy about it. Pretty faces were just that—pretty. Without Jackson, Fiona was nobody.
