Chapter 289
Old Madam Brown had invited some of the influential figures from Y City, including close relatives and important figures.
Some of these people knew about the feud between the Brown and Miller families. Though they hadn’t seen Old Madam Miller in years, when they saw her, they immediately recognized her.
Hearing Maggie call her “Grandma” and seeing her looking around 25 or 26, they quickly put two and two together. The beautiful young woman must be Old Madam Brown’s other granddaughter.
However, this granddaughter had not been seen in the Brown family since her father divorced his first wife, Old
Madam Brown’s son.
They had previously heard rumors that after Old Madam Brown’s son remarried his second wife, she completely
cut ties with her previous granddaughter. They had assumed this was just a rumor.
But after seeing Old Madam Brown’s cold and indifferent reaction to the girl, they quickly realized it wasn’t a
rumor.
Moreover, Logan, her biological father, was also present, but he hadn’t said a word. It seemed like he, too, had no intention of acknowledging this daughter.
Many years ago, when Logan insisted on divorcing his wife from the prominent Miller family to marry a poor girl, everyone thought he had lost his mind.
However, after so many years, and hearing rumors that the Miller family had been on the brink of bankruptcy, while the Brown family had flourished with the rise of the granddaughter from the poor girl, they couldn’t help but realize that perhaps Old Madam Brown and Logan had made the right choice back then.
As the Brown family was now thriving, these influential figures were willing to travel from Y City to attend the birthday celebration of Old Madam Brown, showing full respect to the Brown family, even though they had little personal connection with them.
After the people from Y City recognized Old Madam Miller, they noticed that no one from the Brown or Green families had said anything. It was clear that the Brown family didn’t want their past with the Miller family to be publicly discussed.
Seeing this, even though they recognized Old Madam Miller, no one took the initiative to greet her..
Some of them, however, shifted their attention to Julia and Landon, and in front of Maggie and Old Madam Miller, they complimented Old Madam Brown, saying, “Old Madam, these grandchildren of yours are outstanding in both looks and other aspects. You must be truly blessed.”
Julia and Landon were indeed the pride of the Brown family.

Chapter 289
Old Madam Miller did not glance at Maggie again.
Looking at
and Julia with full affection, she smiled and said, “Oh, not at all…”
What Old Madam Miller said next, Maggie didn’t hear clearly, as she and Old Madam Miller had already moved past the crowd and walked further away.
As for Franklin, once she had seen him at the beginning, she didn’t pay him any more attention.
Rex and Levi hadn’t expected Maggie to appear here either, and they awkwardly were mistaken for Julia.
They watched as Maggie walked away.
At that moment, Harry’s secretary approached with a gift box and handed it to Old Madam Miller.
When they learned that Harry could not attend the birthday celebration in person, both the Brown and Green families were somewhat disappointed.
However, the Green family was even more disheartened than the Brown family.
In addition to feeling disappointed, they were also anxious. After all, Sophia had caused some trouble recently, and both Tracy and Old Madam Green were hoping that Sophia could get together with Harry to improve their current declining situation.
But to their surprise, Harry hadn’t come today.
Levi was surprised when he heard that Harry couldn’t make it.
He hadn’t heard of any special matters that would keep Harry away today.
Julia was also surprised by Harry’s absence, and she frowned slightly.
Franklin, however, didn’t seem to react much.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Maggie and Old Madam Miller had arrived at the wedding banquet hall. After sitting down for a while, her phone rang.
It was a call from Isabella..
Maggie hadn’t planned on answering, but seeing that it was Isabella calling and recalling that Franklin and Julia had both attended Old Madam Miller’s birthday banquet, but Isabella was missing, Old Madam Miller guessed that Isabella might have been kept at home by Franklin.
She felt sorry for Isabella and urged Maggie to pick up the call.
Maggie, understanding her grandmother’s concern, had no choice but to stand up and walk to a quieter place to answer the call.
