**TITLE: Dreams Folding Into Broken Time**
**by Serene L. Ard**
When his lips began to explore the expanse of my neck, I felt a shiver of delight mixed with apprehension. The world around us faded into a blur, leaving just the two of us suspended in this moment.
“Maybe I should just cancel,” he murmured softly, his breath warm against my skin. “I’m the one who—”
I laughed lightly, nudging him away with a gentle push. “Go on, before I start thinking that’s a good idea.”
He groaned, dragging himself toward the door like a reluctant child being sent off to school. “You know I own the day, right?”
Rolling my eyes, I shot back, “You say that every single time I stop you from ruining your health.”
He glanced down at his phone, a frown etching itself onto his features. “Someone’s definitely getting the brunt of my frustration today. All of them.”
“Don’t be an asshole,” I scolded, playfully smacking his arm.
He caught my hand in his and pressed a soft kiss against my palm. “Bye, baby.”
“Have a lovely day, daddy,” I said without thinking, the words slipping out as if they were meant to be.
He froze, his body tensing halfway through the door. His head turned slowly back to me, eyes wide with surprise. “Say that again?”
“Daddy,” I repeated, this time softer, more deliberate, savoring the sound of it.
In an instant, his expression shifted. The color drained from his face, only to be replaced by a rush of warmth that painted his cheeks.
“Sav…” His voice cracked slightly, revealing the vulnerability beneath his usual bravado.
My heart fluttered in response. “Yeah?”
“Oh fuck!” he whispered, closing the distance between us in three swift strides, cupping my face in his hands. “Are we… going to be parents?”
Tears brimmed in my eyes, a mixture of fear and hope. “If the test comes out positive.”
He pressed his forehead against mine, his breath uneven, as if he were trying to steady himself against the whirlwind of emotions. “You’ve changed my entire life, Savannah.”
I smiled through the haze of uncertainty. “You better go now, or you’ll be late.”
He exhaled a shaky laugh, a sound filled with disbelief and joy. “Alright, alright.” He turned back toward the door, his demeanor brightened, filled with the promise of what lay ahead.

**Chapter 300**
The weight of unspoken dreams hung in the air, dreams we had fought to build together. “I love you,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.
“I love you too,” I replied, feeling the warmth of his words wrap around me like a comforting embrace.
When he finally stepped outside, the silence that enveloped me was so profound it ached in my chest. I stood by the window, watching him cross the driveway, climb into his car, and drive away, the sound of the engine fading into the distance.
And then, just like that, the smile that had graced my lips moments before faded, leaving a void in its wake.
Turning away, I opened the closet and retrieved the test kit I had hidden beneath my suitcase. My hands trembled with anticipation, the box slipping from my fingers once before I managed to catch it.
Taking a deep breath, I pressed my palm against my stomach, murmuring, “Okay. Just one time.”
