Chapter 159 Denial

When Athena came out, she happened to see the scene. She was puzzled and asked, “What are you guys doing?”
Zaden casually took Teri’s hand and said, “Just checking if she got hurt.”
Teri exchanged glance with Zaden, sharing a kind of unspoken understanding between them.
“Thank you, Daddy.”
“You’re welcome.”
Athena felt a little guilty about what happened today.
She walked over and sat down beside them, gently asking Teri, “Were you scared? Dion has been completely spoiled. I’m sorry.”
Teri quickly shook her head. She wasn’t scared.
Athena reached out and patted Teri’s head, thinking how sweet and sensible she was.
She looked up and saw Zaden looking at her with a complicated expression. Athena was surprised and asked, “What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”
She touched her cheeks instinctively, wondering if she hadn’t washed properly earlier.
Zaden smiled faintly.
“No, I just think that you don’t have to take everything on yourself. What others do has nothing to do with you. You don’t need to feel guilty or apologize for it.”
Teri nodded in agreement.
It was all Dion’s fault. Athena hadn’t done anything wrong.
Athena was stunned for a moment. She felt warmth spread through her heart. She knew what Zaden meant. He wanted her to learn to let go, which would make life much easier.
Athena nodded. “I know.”
“It’s getting late. Let’s go to bed.”
Athena reached for Teri’s hand to take her back to their room.
The last time Teri accidentally dirtied Zaden’s bed, they were forced to share a bed for a night.

The next day, Athena immediately asked for new bedding and now they were back to how things were before.
Teri still felt a little disappointed, but she knew she couldn’t rush things.
She waved goodbye to Zaden obediently.
In the room, Athena gently pulled the blanket up to cover Teri’s chest. She said to Teri, “I’ll tell you a different bedtime story tonight, okay?”
Teri nodded eagerly.
After the kidnapping incident, Teri had struggled with sleep for a long time. No matter how tired she was, she’d wake up again and again. Later, Athena started telling her bedtime stories.
The method worked pretty well.
They had kept that habit ever since.
“Once upon a time … “Athena began with her calm and soothing voice. Not long after, Teri fell asleep to the sound of her voice.
Once she was asleep, Athena gently brushed a few strands of hair from her forehead.
Her gaze softened.
In fact, she was pouring all the love she once had for her own daughter into Teri. Maybe that was her way of coping.
Where was her daughter?
Athena sat up and sent a message to Kit, “How’s the investigation going? Any news about my daughter?”
“Ms. Athena, don’t worry. There’s a lead. Just be patient for a little longer.”
Seeing that message, Athena’s eyes lit up.
She couldn’t help but feel excited.
It would be wonderful if they really found her daughter.
Meanwhile, in the room next door, Dion sat sulking on his bed, feeling annoyed.
He couldn’t understand it. He had exposed Teri’s lies, yet Athena still refused to believe him!
Just then, Nina pushed open the door and walked in.

She noticed Dion’s expression and knew what he was thinking. She sneered and mocked him, “I told you before, even if Athena knows the truth, she still won’t side with you. Just give up. You lost and you have to listen to me from now on.”
Dion glared at her with eyes full of hatred. “I haven’t lost!”
Nina smirked. It looked like Dion still didn’t get it.
She crossed her arms. “You still haven’t given up? Didn’t what happened today make it clear? Athena already has another child. She doesn’t want you.”
“You’re lying!”
Dion stood on the bed, shouting furiously, “Mom still loves me!”
Even today, when Athena was in danger, she had saved him first.
That meant deep down, she still cared about him.
“Get out!” he yelled, grabbing a pillow and hurling it at her. Nina dodged it.
A sharp gaze flashed in her eyes. “Alright, I’ll leave.”
Nina had purposefully provoked Dion. That way, he would kick her out and she would have a chance to go see Lewis.
As long as she could be in a same room with Lewis, she had ways to seduce him.
Nina was already disappointed in Dion.
