Nina wrapped her arms around Lewis’s waist, leaned in close to his ear, and whispered, “Lewis, let’s go to your room. I know how uncomfortable you are right now. I’ll make you feel better.”

After she said that, she tried to guide Lewis back to his room.

But suddenly, Athena popped into Lewis’s mind. He knew if he slept with Nina again, Athena would never forgive him.

He didn’t know where he got the strength, but he shoved Nina away.

He stumbled back to his room, slamming the door shut behind him. Realizing what had just happened, Nina started pounding on the door from the hallway.

“Lewis, open the door!

“The drug in your body… the only way to fix it is with a woman! There’s no way you can hold

out!

“Lewis!”

Lewis’s face turned dark as he listened to her shout.

His mind was getting fuzzier and fuzzier. He could barely think straight.

Worried that he’d lose all self–control and open the door for Nina, Lewis looked toward the balcony.

All he had to do was climb across, and he’d end up in Athena’s suite.

Their suites were right next to each other, and even the balconies were connected.

Not giving himself a chance to second–guess, Lewis climbed onto the balcony and made his way over. When he landed, he opened the sliding glass door.

The room was pitch black. Clearly, Athena and Zaden were already asleep.

Lewis looked at the two closed doors in front of him, his brow furrowed.

Which room was Athena sleeping in?

Was she sharing with Zaden, or were they in separate rooms like he and Nina?

While he hesitated, one of the doors suddenly opened. Lewis ducked out of sight, and in the shifting light, he saw a slender figure appear.

The bedrooms didn’t have their own bathroom, so Athena had to step out if she needed to use it at night. She didn’t notice Lewis and headed straight for the bathroom.

Lewis got up

and quietly walked over to the room Athena had come out of. He cracked open the door and took a quick look.

There was a small figure lying in the bed.

A wild surge of happiness lit up his face.

He was right–Athena wasn’t sharing a room with Zaden at all. She was with Teri.

That realization made Lewis’s whole body heat up.

Maybe he and Athena still had a chance.

Just then, he heard movement from the bathroom. Athena must have been getting ready to come out, so Lewis immediately walked toward it.

Athena finished up, opened the door, and was about to step out, but the door suddenly swung open and a dark figure squeezed in. She was so startled, her sleepiness vanished in an instant.

But before she could even scream, a hand clamped over her mouth.

Athena was pinned hard against the bathroom wall. The cold, solid tiles jabbed painfully into her back as she looked up and saw who it was.

Lewis?

Why is he here? How did he get here?

Athena quickly pieced it together. Their rooms were right next to each other, so it was easy for Lewis to climb over if he wanted. But she hadn’t expected him to go through with something so shady.

Sure, he was kind of a jerk, but the Belmonts were still a big name in Vlephia.

She just didn’t think he would actually do something this crazy.

Lewis leaned close to Athena’s car, his voice rough. “Athena, I miss you so much. Ever since you left, I keep thinking about you! I know I messed up. Why won’t you forgive me?”

Athena instantly picked up on the abnormal heat radiating from Lewis.

Her eyes darted around, but with Lewis’s hand over her mouth, she couldn’t say anything.

Lewis kept talking. “I never touched Nina. Athena, you have to believe me. Right now, every part of me belongs to you. I’ll always be loyal to you!”

Hearing that made Athena feel sick.

He never touched Nina? He’s done all those things to me, and now he’s acting all regretful and devoted? Does he even realize how pathetic that sounds?

“Nina drugged me tonight, but I don’t want her, Athena. I only want you …”

Fear crept into Athena’s eyes.

She’d already noticed something was off with Lewis, and now it was confirmed he’d been drugged. But why would Nina do that out of nowhere?

Suddenly, Athena remembered the little scene she’d watched from the balcony the other day.

And the teasing words Harriet had thrown her way.

She couldn’t help but curse Lewis and his whole family in her head.

Now Lewis had her cornered in the bathroom. With so little space, there was no way she could escape. Zaden was still somewhere in the apartment, but he was probably fast asleep… and he never got up at night anyway.

Athena felt her heart grow cold. No one was coming to save her.
