Zaden rested his hand on Athena’s shoulder and said quietly, “Don’t worry. Teri’s grown up now. She can handle things on her own.”
Athena shot him a look. “You don’t seem worried about your daughter at all!”
Zaden chuckled at her words.
“I guess I’m a little careless. That’s why I need you–the mom–to keep an eye on her.”
Athena realized he was teasing her and rolled her eyes. Seeing her reaction only made Zaden’s smile grow wider.
When Teri’s teacher walked her back, she happened to see the two of them laughing together.
She instantly felt like she’d just walked into a romantic movie.
Even the teachers at school had heard all kinds of gossip about Zaden and Athena.
But now, Athena showed up as Teri’s mom. She was watching how naturally she and Zaden acted together.
The teacher couldn’t help but think. Guess you really can’t believe everything online.
After leaving the school, Athena sat in the passenger seat and turned to him.
“Don’t you have to work today?”
Zaden nodded. “Yeah, I took the day off.”
Athena couldn’t help but smile.
You’re the boss. Who exactly are you asking for time off from?
“So, are we heading home?” she asked, realizing too late how natural that sounded.
Just one night together, and she was already calling his place home?
Zaden thought for a moment. “Do you need to grab anything from your place first? We can swing by.”
Athena frowned, clearly annoyed. She huffed and said, “Why are you assuming I’m moving in with you? Can’t I just go back to my place?”

Zaden turned to her, his eyes fixed on Athena. His voice was calm but carried a hint of teasing. “Mrs. Storm, aren’t families supposed to live together? Should Teri and I move in with you instead?”
Athena had only been joking.
Her apartment was far from Teri’s school. Besides the distance, the house had limited space, barely enough for one person, let alone the two of them. Having both father and daughter squeeze in would really be unfair to them.
She sighed helplessly. “Fine, I was just kidding. Let’s go. I’ll stop by my place first.”
Zaden started the car, ready to drive off. Suddenly, his phone rang.
Athena’s gaze flickered when she heard the ringtone; it was a tune she hadn’t expected him to
use.
Zaden picked up the call right in front of her. It was Tommy, giving him a quick update on work progress and asking if he was coming to the office today.
After a short pause, Zaden replied calmly, “Not today.”
Then he added casually, “I need to help my wife move.”
Both Athena and Tommy had no words.
Tommy froze. He had only been doing his job, but somehow, he felt like he’d just been forcibly watching them display their love. Is Zaden showing off to me?
Just a couple of days ago, everyone knew things between him and Athena weren’t going great.
How did they suddenly become all lovey–dovey?
Athena fought the urge to cover her face. Tommy might not know she was sitting right beside Zaden, but she still felt her cheeks burn with embarrassment.
Zaden, however, looked perfectly calm, as if nothing was out of the ordinary. “That’s all,” he said, hanging up.
The car went quiet for a long moment.
Finally, Athena broke the silence and tried to change the topic. “Your ringtone sounds like an
song. Didn’t expect you to like that kind of music.”

Then he handed his phone to her.
Athena looked up in surprise. “What are you doing?”
