“Hey, did you hear? Maya’s joining our hospital!”

“What? Is she Mr. Storm’s ex–girlfriend? Athena’s here too. Now, Maya’s coming? If those two run into each other that’s going to be a disaster!”

“I’ve been following Maya’s Instagram lately. She still seems hung up on Mr. Storm. Maybe they’ll get back together.”

“If that’s true, then Mr. Storm and Athena probably aren’t a thing after all. No one’s dumb enough to let two women fight over him in the same place unless he’s asking for trouble.”

“Exactly!”

“Hey! What about Mr. Storm’s rumored illegitimate daughter? Do you think she might be Maya’s-”

Their voices faded away down the hall, leaving silence behind.

Jaylee glanced awkwardly at Athena. She hadn’t meant to eavesdrop, but hearing gossip about her boss right outside the door felt way too awkward.

Athena, however, didn’t seem bothered.

She already knew why Maya had come back to win Zaden over.

Athena gave a small smile and said calmly, “Let’s go.”

“Dr. Hall,” Jaylee said carefully, “the hospital offers staff apartments. I assume you don’t need one, right? Should I tell them you’ll pass?”
