Until the government rescued another group of people–one of them was a real creep, but he could trade her important supplies.
By the time Freya finally got what she needed to buy medicine, she was already half dead.
When she recovered, she got close to a young, capable man.
Using the tricks she had learned to charm and manipulate men, Freya wrapped him right around her finger.
The man was a skilled builder who helped the government repair houses, so he received plenty of supplies and kept Freya well–fed and comfortable.
He was strong from years of physical labor before the apocalypse. He fought off a few men who tried to bother Freya, and after that, no one dared to touch her again.
…
But who could’ve guessed that in the third group of rescued survivors his wife would show up?
By then, the deep freeze had already begun. Freya was in the shelter, cuddled up in a small room the man had earned through his work, when a big, broad–shouldered woman suddenly
burst in.
Without saying a word, the woman charged straight at Freya and started hitting her.
The man tried to protect Freya but got slapped across the face with the bottom of a shoe.
Freya tried to run, but the woman yanked her back and started beating her again—this time on her backside and private parts.
Freya screamed in pain.
The woman cursed her out, then kicked Freya out the door.
When Freya looked down at herself, she saw her clothes torn apart and blood dripping between her legs.
Government guards arrived late as usual. After hearing what happened, they didn’t stand up
for her at all.

Chapter 154 Freya’s Regret
In their eyes, what Freya had done was shameful and unacceptable.

“We provide food and work in this shelter,” one young soldier said coldly. “Why would you do something so disgraceful?”
Freya’s face burned red with shame.
The shelter had always tried to keep order. Many women traded their bodies for supplies, but as long as it wasn’t too out of control, the government usually turned a blind eye.
But once something like this happened, they wouldn’t just ignore it.
Freya, the builder, and his wife were all criticized. Still, since it was a “private family matter,” the officials just gave them a warning.
They told Freya to behave, work honestly, and stop taking shortcuts–they’d be keeping an eye on her.
Because there weren’t enough medical supplies, Freya’s wounds were only roughly bandaged.
The cold weather kept her from getting an infection, but the pain between her thighs didn’t go away. She could barely walk straight, let alone join scavenging trips.
She couldn’t stay in that shelter anymore.
The old men who had once swarmed around her, plus some new young ones, all started eyeing her again.
None of them cared that she was hurt.
She had to sneak around, offering services in secret. Some men even refused to pay her afterward.
The builder came by a few times to bring her food, but once his wife found out, she beat Freya up again and swore that every time she saw her, she’d do the same.
Freya was terrified and walked around with her head down every day.
She later learned that the builder’s wife worked on construction sites–strong as an ox and not someone she could ever fight back against.
Afraid of getting pregnant, Freya traded what little she had for birth control pills. But later, those pills became too rare and expensive for her to afford.
The government allowed people to earn supplies through labor, but Freya’s injuries never

Her bad reputation made things worse–men kept harassing her at work, and she could never get anything done.
So when she heard the government was building a new shelter in her old apartment building, she got excited.
She heard that the people still living in the apartments could keep their homes.
The 66th floor had already made a deal with the officials, meaning the top floors wouldn’t be taken over.
And Freya’s old room was on the 65th floor!
That meant once she returned, she could have the whole floor to herself.
So when Niko was assigned to deploy people to the apartments, Freya made sure to approach him.
She knew this captain was a kind man with a soft heart.
By chance, she overheard Niko talking about the people on the 66th floor. He mentioned they might have guns and even brought up Kay’s name.
“There are three people on the 66th floor,” Niko said. “Caroline, Tyler, and Kay. According to other survivors from this building, they’re armed. But we don’t have enough manpower to treat them like criminals. If we provoke them, it could cause chaos and put civilians at risk. So…
it’s complicated.” He sighed quietly after speaking.
