Chapter 238 Kill Him
There wasn’t even a goodbye letter.
Tyler’s grandparents, crushed by their daughter’s sudden death, fell ill and passed away just months before the apocalypse.
At that time, Tyler had been away on a mission. He couldn’t reach Daniela’s family at all.
By the time he finished and tried to contact them, he found out his mother was already gone. When he got home, all that remained was a box of ashes.
Her unexpected death hit him hard. Shaken and distracted, he missed an urgent call and failed to report back to his squad.
When he finally returned, everything spiraled. One of his teammates died on a mission.
Tyler snapped, killed the main suspect, and was forced out of the military. That was how he became a mercenary.
Since then, he’d been obsessed with uncovering the truth about Daniela’s death.
He remembered her as lively and upbeat. There was no way she would just take her own life.
Once he left the army, he finally had the freedom to investigate what truly happened to his mother.
Right before the apocalypse, his search led him to Heidi.
He suspected she was behind it all.
At that time, the Lowlands were barely holding on. The Ramirezes had bought up most of their assets, pushing them to the brink.
Daniela had been leading the fight against the Lowlands.
Tyler also learned something else–Daniela and Heidi had once been best friends.
Both were socialites in Hornvale and close in age.
Daniela had met Desmond through Heidi. The more Tyler thought about it, the creepier it
became.
Now, he finally knew the truth about Daniela’s death.

At that moment, the half–dead, beaten look on Tyler’s face vanished, replaced by a smirk.
His eyes snapped open just as he was about to shut them for good.
He lunged forward, grabbing Heidi’s wrist. “Heidi, I’m gonna make you suffer!”
There was no blood where she’d shot him.
He’d kept his hand pressed there the whole time, hiding the fact that he wasn’t hurt at all.
After all, he was wearing a vest made from mutant rat king hide.
“Ah! Kill him!” Heidi screamed in a panic, calling for her bodyguard.
But Tyler had already noticed the bodyguard’s pistol wasn’t even loaded.
That’s why he felt confident pulling a move like that on Heidi.
The apocalypse had just begun, and those people had never even handled a gun before. They wouldn’t react fast enough.
Tyler kicked the bodyguard aside and shot him in the head. Then he turned to Heidi. “Everything my mother went through before she died–you’re going to feel it too.”
He punched her out cold, hoisted her over his shoulder, and leaped out the window.
Footsteps from the Lowlands‘ bodyguards were already rushing toward the door. But when they arrived, they found nothing.
Once outside, Tyler carried Heidi, dodging guards along the way, and escaped the Lowland Residence. He tossed her into a car.
Just as he was about to leave, he spotted someone sneaking out nearby.
Tyler frowned, sensing trouble. He quietly shut the car door and followed.
Up close, he saw it was Erica. She was hauling a huge bag, terrified, and trying to run.
She’d even stolen one of the Lowlands‘ cars.
Tyler remembered Caroline had said she’d deal with Harry first, then handle Erica. Erica was clearly her next target.

He couldn’t stop himself from grinning.
When Caroline returned, she didn’t go into the Lowland Residence. Instead, she headed straight to their designated car hideout, only to find one of the cars missing–and someone lying in the snow.
It was Erica. She’d passed out in the snow and had clearly been there for a while. Her face was dusted with frost, her eyelashes frozen stiff.
The strangest thing? A piece of paper was tucked inside her clothes.
Curious, Caroline picked it up.
On it, two bold, flowing words read, “You’re welcome.”
At the bottom was Tyler’s signature.
Caroline couldn’t help but picture his smug grin as he wrote it.
She shook her head, amused. His personality was quite interesting.
“Well, he did save me some time.”
She chuckled, drew her pistol, and shot Erica in the head.
Bang! Blood bloomed like a red flower in the snow. Erica was dead.
Caroline got into the car with Raven, leaving Erica behind, and drove off into the night.
