Usually, circus bears are barely three feet. These three had clearly changed a lot since the world ended. Insane.

The biggest one was the worst. It was chewing on half a human body, bones cracking as blood dripped from its mouth, staining the white fur on its chest deep red.

“Get ready! We’re taking down those mutant bears. Load the tranquilizer guns. Full dose this time!”

Francis’s face turned serious when he saw the three mutant bears coming their way.

Just one look, and you could tell they were strong.

From Caroline’s view, their claws looked sharp as knives–each at least half a foot long.

Guess their mutation made their bodies stronger.

“We should go too,” Caroline said, taking the lead this time.

Francis didn’t underestimate her. He knew she had gone out alone for supplies and made it back every time, so he was aware that even though she was a woman, she could defend herself.

He didn’t stop her. After all, they were up against three bears, and a few soldiers wouldn’t be enough.

Caroline got out of the car with Raven and Jet, while Tyler and Denton stood together.

“I’ve got an idea,” Francis said, stroking his chin as he looked at Raven, Jet, and Silver on Denton’s shoulder. “But I’ll need to borrow your little pets for a bit.”

One of the smaller bears suddenly charged at them.

The big one was still tearing into the body in its mouth, its blood–red eyes fixed on the group like it was deciding who to attack first.

It didn’t move right away, just watched from a distance.

That gave them a chance to take down the smaller bear before facing the big one.

A few soldiers stepped up. One aimed a tranquilizer gun and fired.

“We need to wound them first so the tranquilizer can penetrate!” a soldier shouted when he saw what happened.

Meanwhile, Francis had already explained his plan to Caroline and the others.

He wanted Jet, Silver, and Raven to distract the bears.

The bears were huge and tough, but they still moved like normal ones–slow and heavy.

Hearing that, Caroline gently patted Jet’s head. “Go get ‘em, Jet.”

Jet was thrilled. Before taking off, he glanced at Silver beside him, as if saying, “Time to show off in front of Silver.”

In the next second, Jet shot forward like lightning.

Raven followed right behind him.

Meanwhile, Denton, Caroline, Tyler, and Francis’s team surrounded the two small bears, trying to make some cuts on their tough hides.

Tyler, holding a short blade, charged in first. He leaped over one bear and slashed across its shoulder.

No wound.

Denton moved fast and quietly, circling around with a massive machete. He struck hard at the bear’s back–still no wound.

Caroline pulled out her Tivara knife and attacked from the side, aiming for the bear’s armpit as it raised its arm. The blade didn’t even pierce the skin.

Francis fired several shots, even switched to a larger–caliber pistol, but the bear’s skin showed zero damage.

“Damn thing’s built like a tank!” he cursed, grabbing a grenade.

Without hesitation, he hurled it at one of the smaller bears.
