**Doomsday Rebirth 375**
**The Endless Line**
“Please, don’t make it seem like I’m taking advantage of you all! Line up properly, or I’ll have to have a word with your colonel later!” Caroline exclaimed, her tone a playful mixture of jest and warning.
The soldiers groaned in mock dismay, yet laughter bubbled up among them as they began to shuffle into a more orderly formation in front of her.
Within moments, about a dozen soldiers stood in line, eagerly awaiting their turn to shake her hand. Caroline had anticipated this would be a brief encounter—a quick series of handshakes, and she’d be done in no time.
However, it quickly became evident that these men were not alone. They had friends. Many friends.
“Hey, everyone! Line up! Let Caroline copy your abilities too!” shouted the first soldier who had shaken her hand, his voice echoing through the corridor as he dashed away, enthusiasm radiating from him.
Before she could even process what was happening, five or six more soldiers came sprinting toward her, their excitement palpable.
“I’ll grab the ones downstairs! Don’t go anywhere, Caroline!” another soldier called out, racing off before she could utter a word of protest.
Moments later, more soldiers came bounding up the stairs, their energy infectious.
“I know some civilians with abilities! I’ll fetch them too! Just hold tight, Caroline!” a third soldier shouted, his face alight with determination as he dashed away.
What had initially been a simple task had morphed into a full-scale event, far beyond her expectations.
While Caroline appreciated the unexpected assistance, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of exasperation at how quickly the situation had spiraled out of control. She watched as the soldiers scurried about the building, bringing in group after group of eager individuals. Soon, dozens were lined up, all waiting for their chance to connect with her.
A part of her was genuinely touched by their enthusiasm, yet another part felt completely overwhelmed.
But as time slipped by, she found herself gradually adjusting to the chaos, even feeling a flicker of excitement. In just that brief period, she had absorbed more than a dozen new abilities.
Among the throng were several soldiers and civilians whose powers she had already copied in the past, which meant that she couldn’t duplicate those abilities again. Yet, there was something thrilling about realizing that her older abilities had recharged. The ability known as “The Triangle You Don’t Know” now displayed five available uses again, and “Ugliness Is a Weapon” had also returned to five.
Her heart raced at the thought. Both of these abilities were incredibly useful, and she had been hoping that the system would eventually recharge them. Now, that hope had materialized into reality.
She made a mental note to remember the faces of the two individuals whose powers had contributed to the recharging of her skills. If she ever found herself in need of more, she would know exactly whom to seek out.
After shaking hands with countless individuals, she felt a sense of camaraderie with the entire group. The soldiers assured her that if she ever needed to “top up” her abilities again, she could return anytime, and they would make the process seamless.
