Girl's Doomsday Rebirth Revenge & Survive novel Chapter 412

**TITLE: Doomsday Rebirth 412**
**Chapter 412: Eyes in the Dark**

Raven felt a warm flush of embarrassment wash over him as the compliments poured in, yet he maintained his façade of cool indifference. Inside, however, his tail was wagging with such enthusiasm that it could have rivaled a helicopter’s rotor blades.

As they prepared to set off, Caroline anticipated that their journey would be lengthy, and she knew that Raven would likely feel the effects of using his powers. With that in mind, she thoughtfully draped a small bag around his neck, filled with an assortment of dog food, tender pieces of cooked chicken breast, and a few delightful dog treats.

Raven, never one to be selfish, eagerly rummaged through the bag. He carefully selected a little of everything and gently deposited the offerings into Haroldson’s outstretched palm.

The sight of that simple act made Haroldson’s heart swell with affection. “Raven, I’m really not hungry, but thank you all the same!” he exclaimed, a grin spreading across his face.

“Okay, okay, I’ll take it, I’ll take it,” he chuckled, the joy in his voice unmistakable.

With a gentle nudge of his nose, Raven seemed to insist that Haroldson accept the “gift,” and Haroldson couldn’t help but beam with delight, his eyes sparkling with uncontainable happiness.

After this light-hearted exchange, Caroline and Haroldson fell into easy conversation, their voices mingling with the sounds of the bustling street around them.

As Caroline wandered towards the back of the garbage truck, she noted that aside from a few stubborn liquid stains, the street had been thoroughly cleared. Just a handful of scraps lingered in the corners, remnants of a time that felt distant. A larger cleaning vehicle was scheduled to arrive later for a more meticulous sweep.

“I got transferred from the front lines. Captain Richter is back too,” Haroldson mentioned, his tone shifting slightly.

Caroline’s heart skipped at the mention of Niko. She didn’t display much reaction, but inside, a storm of thoughts churned. Haroldson continued, explaining that although he and Niko had returned, Nathaniel had not entrusted them with the management of the shelter. Instead, they were tasked with street cleaning and the construction of the new base.

It was evident that Nathaniel’s discontent with Niko’s previous actions still lingered like a shadow over their relationship.

Curiosity piqued, Caroline inquired about the new base. Haroldson’s face lit up as he eagerly sketched a rough map on a piece of paper, pointing out its location and inviting her to visit anytime. “You can come see me or Niko there whenever you want!” he said, his enthusiasm infectious.

Caroline smiled, tucking the map away, but deep down, she had no intention of visiting. The thought of it felt like a distant possibility, one she would likely let slip away.

“I really need to get back to work, Caroline,” Haroldson said, his expression turning serious. “There’s a small outbreak of the plague spreading through the city. Many are falling ill, but the shelters remain safe. We’re doing everything in our power to assist those who are infected. I heard the antidote was developed by your team. You guys are truly remarkable!”

Although Haroldson’s demeanor was friendly and chatty, it was evident that he was overwhelmed with the weight of his responsibilities.
