**TITLE: Doomsday Rebirth 460**
**Chapter 460: Rooftop Ambush**
The tension in the air was palpable as the group exchanged knowing glances, their resolve hardening. “We need to get to the roof,” Caroline announced, her voice steady despite the uncertainty that loomed ahead.
With a shared sense of urgency, they ascended the staircase, bringing Raven along for the ride. They instructed Silver to stay behind, ready to guide anyone who might come searching for them. The weight of their mission pressed heavily on their shoulders, but they had no time to waste.
As Caroline stepped onto the rooftop, a sudden sensation wrapped around her waist like a constricting vine. Startled, she looked up to see Medusa, her long, vine-like limbs swaying with a peculiar mix of excitement and annoyance. The leaves hung low, as if they were sulking from days of solitude. Poor Medusa had been marooned up here for far too long, and now, at last, she had company.
Just as they barely settled onto the rooftop, the twin brothers made their entrance, following them up with an air of confidence.
Medusa, who had been cranky from her prolonged isolation, perked up immediately. The once drooping leaves now stood tall and proud, her entire demeanor radiating a sense of triumph. She seemed to taunt, *What’s this? A couple of brave souls have come to face me?*
Caroline’s group, however, was far from naive. They understood that Andrew, their formidable leader, would never dispatch weaklings against them.
With a collective instinct, they shifted back a few steps, forming a protective barrier around Nelson, who stood at the center, ready to take on whatever came their way.
Two imposing figures in military uniforms stepped forward, their presence commanding attention. Muscles rippled under their camo, and even beneath their pants, their legs resembled sturdy tree trunks. Every piece of equipment they carried was military-grade—guns, knives, tactical gear—making them look like they were preparing for a full-scale war.
But why had Andrew only sent two? It was clear he had immense faith in their abilities.
With this realization, Caroline’s group heightened their alertness. They knew these two would not be easy prey.
Medusa was the first to strike. Her branches lashed out like whips, aiming to ensnare the intruders. The older brother, quick as a shadow, sidestepped her attack with a practiced ease. The younger brother, however, wasn’t as fortunate; he found himself caught in Medusa’s grasp. Yet, with a swift motion, he drew a combat blade and slashed toward her, desperation fueling his actions.
Simultaneously, the brothers moved in perfect harmony, their bodies a well-oiled machine.
Under the harsh sunlight, Caroline caught a fleeting glimpse of something metallic glinting through the air.
“One,” the older brother announced, a confident smile gracing his lips.
“Two,” the younger brother chimed in, his tone matching the rhythm of their deadly dance.
“Three.”
The moment he uttered that final word, Medusa crumpled to the ground with a heavy thud, as if a great weight had been suddenly lifted from her.
A gasp escaped Caroline’s lips. It was astonishing how a creature of such size could be felled in mere seconds, as if an unseen force had struck her down. Medusa lay motionless, fainted.
“Be cautious,” Tyler warned, his voice low and serious. “These two seem to possess some kind of ability that incapacitates others.”
Nods of agreement rippled through the group, their expressions grave.
Jet, Raven, and Denton instinctively positioned themselves around Nelson, ready to protect him at all costs. Tyler and Caroline exchanged a brief yet meaningful glance, a silent agreement passing between them before they charged forward into the fray.
The twins split their focus; one engaged Tyler while the other turned his attention to Caroline, eager to test their mettle against hers.
