**Doomsday Rebirth 478**
**Chapter 478: New Home**
Jet was utterly bewildered. Dogs, by nature, were creatures of the pack. To be regarded as “one of the pack” was the highest form of respect they could offer. The term “benefactor” seemed far too distant, almost alien, in comparison to the bonds they formed.
“I even wanna swear brotherhood with him!” Jet exclaimed, his excitement bubbling over as he continued his monologue.
He rambled endlessly, his voice animated as he recounted the daily escapades of General and the dynamics of their pack.
In his fervor, he highlighted some of General’s peculiar habits. For instance, when General got affectionate with his wife, he did so unabashedly, causing the single male dogs in the pack to squirm with discomfort.
Jet chuckled, remembering how General was never fussy about food. Yet, there was one thing he would never touch: human flesh. Even when other dogs indulged, General maintained his principles.
As for his wife, she was a bundle of nerves around humans, particularly strangers. But within the confines of the pack, she reigned supreme, a true queen, showering General with adoration.
She took great pride in showcasing him to the younger male dogs, urging them to learn from his example.
“Look at him! This is how a true leader behaves!” she would say, a twinkle in her eye.
She even encouraged the young ones to seek out mates, to expand their ranks and strengthen the pack.
The more Caroline listened to Jet, the wider her smile grew. It all felt enchanting, a tapestry woven with threads of loyalty and love.
Reflecting on that fateful moment when she had saved General, Caroline realized it had been a decision made in the blink of an eye. There had been a time when she might have found herself on the opposite side, an enemy instead of a savior.
But now, as she sat there, she felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Rescuing him had turned out to be one of the best choices she had ever made.
In her mind, she could envision a scenario where she could command General and his mutant dog army, but the thought felt wrong.
That magnificent creature had been bound, mistreated, exploited, and betrayed by humans—he had nearly lost his life.
Once, he had offered humans his unwavering loyalty, his most cherished trust.
He had served even while his stomach growled in protest.
He took every blow, every lash, yet still wagged his tail, yearning for approval.
Jet’s voice faded into the background as Caroline’s thoughts drifted.
He had worked tirelessly, yet he had been given the least, never once raising a paw in rebellion.
It wasn’t until Raven had spoken to him, kindling a spark of defiance, that everything had shifted.
Now, General was untamed, fierce, and undeniably strong.
Caroline felt a deep sense of reverence for what he had become.
