Divorce Me Before Death Takes Me, CEO novel Chapter 105

Chapter 105

Blake’s POV

I rarely saw Audrey this cold, this distant. The woman standing before me in William’s hospital room was practically a stranger, her eyes devoid of the warmth they once held for me.

I felt myself freeze for a moment, anger flashing through me before I could suppress it. I just want to talk about Thalia

outside!

After all we’ve been through as husband and wife, is she really this guarded around me?

Audrey glanced between William and Felix, her smile barely there. If it’s about Thalia, you can speak freely. No strangers

here.

Her casual dismissal felt like a deliberate provocation. Felix wasn’t a Parker, but he’d grown up with me and was Thalia’s childhood friend. Years ago, Thalia had even pursued him, and when I was too busy to handle my business, Felix had often offered to help. Felix knew exactly what Thalia was like; there was no need for discretion around him.

Still, her words made my brow furrow deeply.

Just say what you need to say,Audrey continued, looking directly at me, her tone calm but distant. The challenge în her eyes was unmistakable.

Noticing my hesitation, grandfather snorted from his hospital bed. What’s the secrecy for? We’re all family.

Felix chuckled awkwardly, glancing between us. Blake, do you need me

to step out?

With things having reached this point, I couldn’t insist any further. I felt my shoulders tense slightly. No, just stay.

I glanced at Audrey, feeling a storm of emotions I couldn’t quite name. It’s nothing much. I just wanted to ask you how many problems you’ve solved for Thalia over the years, and how much money you’ve spent.

Audrey raised an eyebrow. Too many to count. She met my gaze directly. As for moneywhatever was charged to your black card went to her problems.

I felt myself freeze, disbelief washing over me. The card I gave youyou used it

to

What else?Audrey laughed coldly, her voice tinged with sarcasm and resignation.

spend

on her?

She continued, I helped your sister solve her problems, but did you expect me to pay for them too?

You know I grew up in a small town. Even after my biological parents found me when I was eighteen, they never really took care of me. I don’t have money of my own.As she spoke, Audrey’s eyes grew distant, though her tone remained surprisingly calm.

I frowned, feeling a flash of guilt. That’s not what I meant.

For the past two years, Rebecca and Thalia had constantly complained to me about Audrey being greedy, using my black card to buy luxury goods and jewelry. I had always assumedthat she had used the money to maintain appearances. I never imagined

Chapter 105

Then what did you mean? Grandfather glared at me from his bed, Audrey’s done enough for this family We Go batter not the other way around!

II tried to explain but was interrupted before I could finish.

Mr. Parker,A nurse appeared at the door, her tone professional but urgent. You’re stable now. We need the ICU for critical patients.

The nurse’s reminder made us all suddenly realize we were still in the ICU.

Audrey quickly stood up and apologized to the nurse, her face showing genuine remorse. I’m so sorry, we’ll leave right away.

Back in the ward, the air felt suffocatingly silent. Grandfather tapped his fingers against the blanket, his disapproval radiating toward me.

Felix stood up, glancing at Audrey with a light smile, trying to ease the tension. Audrey, have you had breakfast yet?

I’m going to get Mr. Parker some food. Want to join me?

Audrey nodded quickly, obviously eager to escape the oppressive environment. Sure.

Wait.Just as the two reached the door, I spoke coldly, my voice carrying an undeniable command. Felix, stay and keep

my grandfather company.

I stood up, feeling my height advantage as I moved to Audrey’s side, almost physically blocking her path. I’ll go with her.

Felix paused, instinctively glancing at Audrey, his expression awkward. Well

Audrey frowned slightly as she looked at me. After brief consideration, she finally nodded. Felix, please stay. I actually have something to discuss with him.

With that, she strode out of the hospital room, her figure resolute and stubborn. I followed closely behind.

Audrey’s POV

The elevator closed, trapping Blake and me inside.

Despite the space, I couldn’t breathe normally. My pulse quickened.

His cedar scent filled the air between us.

Fortunately, the elevator doors soon opened again.

This time, a large family entered. At the center of the group was a new mother in a wheelchair, holding an infant in her arms. Her face was rosy, her smile radiant.

The family occupied most of the elevator space, their cheerful voices filling the entire elevator.

Almost instinctively, Blake turned toward me, shielding me from the crowd. His movement was natural and protective, like a habit formed over years.

Chapter 105

We stood face to face, our posture intimate, our breaths mingling. I could feel the rise and fall of Blake’s chest as he breathed, and smell his familiar scent.

Face to face, I noticed his jawline, the movement of his Adam’s apple as he breathed. I felt another flutter in my heart, my heartbeat accelerating beyond my control.

Even now, he fits everything I find attractive.

Honey, you’ve been so strong, the new father in the elevator spoke up as he looked at his wife. Seeing you in surgery nearly killed me.

I felt terrible putting you through childbirth,he continued, touching her shoulder gently.
