The Rogue Alpha and the Werewolf King (by Hailey Kristine) novel Chapter 125

Chapter6

Alpha Killian’s POV

O

I am sitting in this damned SUV on the way to the Royal Pack for this socalled Alpha Meeting they are holding. My head warrior is driving, while a van with 5 others are following closely behind.

I would have much preferred to stay at home and deal with the aftermath of the infiltration yesterday. Last week we had a shewolf go missing without a trace. Three days ago, there was another young shewolf who went missing. Again, with no trace. We have been trying to track her and have had no luck in finding her.

Yesterday, in the early morning, we had another shewolf go missing. This time, we were able to scent rogues near the path she took to school. We tracked the scent and lost it after they crossed a nearby lake.

It seems as though they threw her in a boat after covering themselves with mud and crossed the lake.

Normally rogues aren’t this calculative. But somehow not only were they able to cross into my packlands, but

also steal three shewolves.

We have found that after the war that the Royals faced, more rogues are teaming up to try to take out packs. So far none of the attacks have been successful for any pack, let alone mine. I pride myself on having one of the strongest packs there is. With a pack of 300 people, we are about a medium sized pack.

We have few allies, but no enemies. We like being a separate pack that relies on only themselves for help. We trade with other packs for goods we cannot produce ourselves, but other than that we have very few relations

with outsiders.

After the attack 11 years ago, we realized that the Royal Pack only helps themselves and other packs were doing the same. So when I took over as Alpha shortly after the attack, I stopped most reliability on other packs except for the necessities.

My refusal to help others and quickness to kill has earned me a reputation as cold hearted, but I don’t care too much about that. The only thing I care about is my pack. Which is why I am so pi*sed I am forced to

come to this meeting.

We need help with tracking the missing women and to figure out what the hell is going on before more go missing or something much worse happens. I hate asking for help, but I know when I need help and am not

afraid to ask for it.

After a grueling 9 hour drive, we finally pull up to the gates of the royal pack. I am surprised to see that there is a vampire, hybrid, wolf, and dragon shifter guarding the gates. I knew that the new queen had a mixed pack that blended with the Royal Pack after the mating, but I didn’t realize how blended it was. Dragon shifters are rare and to have one acknowledge you as an Alpha is even more rare. Their dragons are strong and stubborn. It goes to show how strong our new queen is.

Although after the war, I knew she was changing things, I didn’t believe it. I heard of how strong she is, how kind hearted she is, but I couldn’t believe it. I heard of the restructuring and that she welcomed all creatures,

but still couldn’t believe it.

After driving the way to the packhouse, I could see it and smell it though. Many people walked through the town square that we had to drive through. Not just wolves, but all species. There aren’t many dragons, but there are plenty of everything else. All with varying smiles and laughter.

Huh. This sight might make me a little less prickly at the thought of meeting the reyal’s, but I will reserve judgement for when I actually meet them.

We arrived at the castle a little after 1. I know that I am late, the invitation said the event started around 11,

but it isn’t like they were expecting me. I did, after all, respond that I wasn’t coming. It was only sheer luck that my Beta remembered about this meeting and that he and my Gamma convinced me to come.

I nod at the guards standing at the base of the stairs and make my way to the entrance. Before I could touch the doors, they opened and a young girl with beach blonde hair and a flower dress stepped out. Her bright pink eyes widened and she bowed slightly.

Good afternoon, Alpha. She says, looking over my shoulders.

Apologies for being late. I have come for the Alpha meeting.I say gruffly and she nods, extending her hand.

I am Adria, daughter of Queen Iris and General Mason. She introduces herself and I shake it, slightly surprised. I hear a lot of things, Queen Iris remating to General Mason two years ago was one of them, but not that they adopted a daughter.

Alpha Killian of the Ruby Reaper pack.I introduce and I feel her hand tighten in mine as I watch her eyes widen with fear and something else I can’t catch. She drops my hand and her eyes return to normal, she looks behind me eyeing the warriors.

I can show you to the conference room, then take your warriors for a tour if you would like. She says and I shake my head.

I can find the room if you point me in the right direction.I say and she nods, pointing through the opened

door.

Up those stairs and hang a right. You can see the top of the door from here. She says as my gaze follows her finger. The granite stairs lead up and to a large open area, to the right is a banister that holds what looks like a balcony overlooking the first floor of the castle. I see an intricate detail outlining, from here the top of a

door.

Thank you.” I say nodding my head and walking through the door.

No problem. She answers as the door closes behind her.

As my foot steps on the first stair leading to the conference room, register a sweet smell. My wolf, Grim, starts racing around in my head like a pup.

Follow scent. He orders me, and I comply. I can feel his excitement and it urges me even further. Following the sweet scent, we walk past the stairs and turn left. The scent is growing stronger. At the end of the atrociously long hallway I see an open door and hear the clashing of metal. I stop and turn to look in the doorway into a large training room. The floor is mostly padded and the walls are lined with weapons. I can see that overhead there is tubing that is glowing purple. That must be one of the generators that collect electricity from the gifted as they release it. Something that was implemented by the new queen to help people with the gift of electricity, so they don’t bring a lightning strike down on a building. Witches create them, that is why they are hard to come by. Now with more witches around they are becoming more accessible.

My breathing stops when I see her. A woman in a deep purple dress, her long chocolate hair flowing with rapid movements from sparring with another.
