Chapter 19

Ziana’s POV

My thoughts are interrupted by a knock on the door, followed by Kai bursting through it with a bag.

I am so glad you’re okay.I was very worried. He says, eyes traveling my body for injury. I smile slightly. He throws a bag at me and I raise an eyebrow in question.

Zane wanted to give you a tour of the pack, but thought you would prefer for me to give you one.” Kai says, smiling sadly at me and I nod.

So I’m not being locked up again?I ask and he flinches, as if I hurt him.

No. At least I would hope not. Especially now thatHe trails off, eyeing my shoulders that are covered by my shirt.

Especially now that I am marked?I ask and he cringes, then nods.

Uh. I’ll let you change, then we can go. I’ll have you back here in time for your appointment at 3.He says and I scrunch my nose at him. He chuckles then holds up his hands as he backs out of the doors.

Alpha’s order. He says, shutting the door and leaving me to change.

I grumble and stand up. I peel off the clothes and notice that my whole body is clean, causing me to blanch at the thought of somebody cleaning me. I waste no time putting on the clothes on. Black leggings, and a long sleeve lavender floral blouse. I scrunch my nose at the offending material.

I walk to the door, open it and step through. Kai is leaning against the wall across from the door and he

smiles. He snickers as he sees me, causing me to scowl.

If you picked this out, you’re dead.I threatened, narrowing my eyes at him. His eyes shimmer with mischief

as he turns and starts walking down the hall. I follow and realize that he is silently laughing. I push him to

the side and he hits a wall.

Hey!He shouts as his laughter begins to bubble over. I ignore him and keep walking. Coming to the dead end of the hallway and I huff as I wait for him, not knowing whether to turn left or right. I cross my arms and

listen for him as he draws closer.

Come on. Can’t afford for you to get lost now. Can we?He asks as he turns left and I roll my eyes.

What do you think I was doing just standing there?I ask as I follow him and he smirks at me, drawing out a dimple that I try to ignore. She has the same dimple on her right side.

We make our way out of the hospital and he turns to me. His normally mischievous eyes turn serious. Will you be okay meeting people and speaking with them?He asks and my brown turn down in confusion. Um.. Why wouldn’t I be?I ask. His eyes move to my wrists before I even finish the question. I huff, crossing my arms in defense. I’ll be fine.I grumble and he nods as he turns around.

We begin to walk in an awkward silence. I take in my surroundings. To my left, the pack house stands tall Center of the whole pack. It’s a five story brick building surrounded by rose bushes. It sits in a clearing it

seems.

That’s obviously the packhouse.” He says point towards it, then moves his hand to the right, pointing towards another, larger brick building. Training room. Behind that, is the training field. Then obviously behind us is the hospital. There is another hospital in town as well.He says. The hospital and training building sit on a street that leads to the packhouse, creating a cul de sac. The road to our right splits into two, which Kai

walks toward.

Left takes you to some housing, right are most of our shops and town square.” He says, taking the right

road.

As we walk he points out shops as people smile and greet us. They look at me curiously, but don’t approach. We approach a shop and Kai opens the door for me. The smell of sweets and coffee permeate the air. We walk through and up to a counter with a young girl standing behind it. Her brown eyes widen upon seeing Kai

and she bows.

Gamma. What can I get for you?She asks and he smiles.

Large caramel hazelnut mocha double shot of espresso, with a pinch of brown sugar and cinnamon. He says as she dutifully takes his order, then looks at me. Oh she’ll have a medium almond butterscotch espresso with a pinch of nutmeg. We also need 2 plain croissants and 2 glazed doughnuts.” He says; causing me to bristle at the fact he ordered for me. She nods, taking the croissants and doughnuts out of the case and hands them to us. Kai pays and we make our way to a table. I glare at him as we sit and he smirks in

response.

What the hell was that?I ask and he chuckles.

I ordered coffee and food. What else did it look like?He responds.

1 why was it so specific? And 2 why did you order for me? Butterscotch coffee sounds disgusting.I say and he laughs as his eyes sparkle. Before he could answer, the young girl walks up to our table and sets down the

coffee.

Is there anything else I can get you, Gamma? She asks, bending her neck to him. Kai eyes me and winks.

Laura, this is Luna Ziana. She is Alpha Killian and Beta Zane’s mate.He introduces me and I see the poor girl pale at his words as she glances at me and her head inclines further.

F.. Forgive me Luna. I. I didn’t know. She stumbles and I pale at her fear. It’s been a while since I have had innocent people fear me.

“Oh. No. No. You’re fine. I should have introduced myself. I’m sorry. Laura, right?I ask, stumbling over my words. Her eyes widen in shock as she makes eye contact with me, then looks away quickly.

It’s o. Okay.She studders.

Thank you for the coffee, Laura. We’ll let you know if there is anything else we need.” Kai says, rescuing us from this awkward interaction. She quickly bows then scurries away. I turn to Kai, pinning him with a glare. He hides his laughter by taking a/sip of his coffee.

Why did you do that?I growl and he shrugs.

Figured I would irritate you more than you already are. Try the coffee. He says, causing me to grumble. I take a bite of the doughnut, just to prolong the demand and try to irritate him. He glares at me and only after I am done chewing and swallowing do I take a sip of the oddly good mixture.

O

You have tainted the flavor with the doughnut. You monster. He gasps and I stick my tongue out at him.

How’d you come up with these specific orders?I ask and he just shrugs his shoulders.

I like to try new things. He answers, taking a bite of the croissant. We eat in silence. The cafe is completely empty, Laura having hidden in the back.

I don’t think you did it on purpose. He says, lowly, causing my eyes to scrunch.
