Chapter 20
Chapter20
Ziana’s POV
I walk into the cozy room and am greeted by a kind woman who looks exactly like doctor Katrina. Tall, blonde, brown eyes. The only difference is that doctor Anna has more of a relaxed style. She is wearing lose cotton pants and a tank top, with a big sweater over.
“Welcome. Welcome. Please take a seat and we will get started.” She says, motioning to the plush couch. I smile tightly and take a seat. She sits in a big chair across from the couch and relaxes in with a notebook.
“Let me tell you a little about myself.” She starts, with a kind smile. “My name is Anna and I have a twin sister, Katrina. We were gifted with our mate 5 years ago and have 3 kiddos, soon to be 4.” She pauses, rubbing her stomach lovingly. “Yes, my sister and I share a mate. It’s more common with twins, but still not too common. As you may know already.” She says, clearly insinuating my two mates. I fight the urge to wrinkle my nose. “I grew up in this pack and proceeded to go to the Blood Howlers University for therapy and psychiatry. After graduation I came back here, met my mate and here we are.” She says and I nod. There are two werewolf higher education universities. Mom and Warrick are working on building another for all species. “So tell me about yourself.” She says and I purse my lips. I don’t miss the way her eyes are studying me. “I am Ziana. My mother is the queen. No higher education.” I say and she frowns slightly. Obviously reading that I do not want to share about myself.
“Well Ziana. I have read through your medical notes and it seems that you have been through a lot. Do you want to talk about any of that?” She asks.
“No. I’m good. Thanks though.” I say. To her credit she doesn’t complain or show any indication of upset. She just nods and scribbles something down.
“I get that you may not want to be here, but it’s mandatory for a person to have a follow up with therapy with any significant injury. Let alone a self–inflicted one.” She explains, and I nod curtly. We sit in silence for a few minutes, both studying each other.
“Can you explain to me why you harmed yourself?” She asks, staying clear of the accusation of me trying to take my own life.
“Did you know they chained me to the wall of the room like a dog?” I ask and her face pales slightly, before she clears her throat.
“I did not.” She answers honestly. Her honesty makes me feel a bit more comfortable with her, but not too much.
“What about Alpha Killian drugging me to bring me here?” I ask and she shakes her head.
“I was told that they were afraid of you running away, so they were keeping you in the room until you adjusted.” She explains and I scoff. Silence rings out between us.
“Was that your solution to try to run from them?” She asks and I bristle at the insinuation. She is asking me if
I tried to off myself as a way to be rid of them.
“I didn’t try to kill myself.” I state blankly and she flinches slightly at the bluntness of my words.
“Can you tell me what happened then?” She asks.

“Look. I am here because I was told I have to be. All you need to know is that I didn’t try to off myself, and it won’t happen again.” I say, sitting back in the chair and folding my arms over my chest.
“I understand.” She says, eyeing me. She leans back into her chair, crosses her legs and sets the writing pad on her thigh. She takes a few moments to write something down then looks up. “Do you understand though, that you could have died if they didn’t mark you?” She asks and my anger flares.
“Then they should have let me die. I didn’t ask for them to save me. And I certainly didn’t ask for either of THEM to be my mate.” I sneer. She just studies me.
“You don’t want a mate?” She asks. My heart hurts at the thought of losing them. Especially now, that I can
feel the bonds.
“No. They forced a bond that should have been a choice.” I answer and she frowns.
“If one of them was near death and the only way to save them was for you to mark them. Wouldn’t done the same thing?” She asks and I try not to cringe at the thought.
you have
“No. I wouldn’t have.” I answer plainly, which takes her by surprise. “I wouldn’t have forced them to be with me the rest of their lives. Taking away their choice.” I say. Anna narrows her eyes in calculation.
“Interesting choice of words.” She says and I stare at her blankly. “You think they are not happy or won’t be happy with you as their mate.” She says, startling me for a second. How she got that from my statement, I have no clue. But I am done talking if she is able to make connections I don’t even know are there. We sit for a few more minutes in silence and she takes a deep breath.
