Chapter26
Ziana’s POV
I need to calm my thoughts. Killian telling me that his and Zane’s father are coming back, specifically to meet me, causes me so much grief it’s almost paralyzing. I took their mates away from them, how can I look them in the eyes?
I don’t realize where I went, until I am smacked in the face with the stench of sweat. I focus in and see that I have landed myself in the training room. My brain knows exactly where I need to be. Looking around, I see that it is a large gymnasium with one wall filled with weapons, one holds locker rooms, another has bleachers, and the last one looks to have offices and private training rooms.
I walk to the private training rooms and smile, the whole training compound is empty since the training is outside today. The training room I step in looks like a smaller version of the one in the castle. It is fully padded, one wall has weapons, and another has a range of sandbags. The only difference is that it doesn’t have the electric probe that sucks up unintentional use of electricity gifts.
I feel my heart begin to beat faster as I think about training the grief and anxiety away.
“Addie ask Kai if the private training room is soundproof.” I say through mindlink. I close the door and head
for the bags.
“He said they all are. Everything okay?” She answers.
“Just peachy. Thanks.” I reply, hitting the bag as hard as I can. Pain radiates through my knuckles and I relish
in it. I punch again and again, losing myself in the pain and thoughts.
“Ah F*ck!” I scream, hanging on the bag as tears stream down my face. I begin to cry, thinking about Mama
Rose and Iris.
I focus back on the bag and punch it again, splitting my already bloody knuckles even further. Blubbering in
frustration at my lack of ability to turn my emotions off. I breathe deeply, focusing on the pain radiating
through my knuckles. After a few breaths I numb myself to everything beside the physical pain. Once I feel
nothing, I focus on healing my hands, watching as the skin heals over.
I walk my way to the door, putting my hair back up in a neater ponytail. I open the door, and walk my way
towards the doors of the gym.
“Ziana? Are you okay?” I hear a panicked voice from across the gym. I look up to see Zane staring at me with
wide eyes. He rushes over to me and grabs my hands, causing sparks to shoot up my arms.
I quickly pull my hands away and look back into his worried eyes.
“I’m fine, just didn’t wrap my hands before hitting the bag.” I explain and the worry in his eyes soften. “Wh. What are you doing here?” I ask, switching the subject.
“Oh. I’m filling in for Kai. Killian gave him the week off to spend with Adria.” Zane says and I smile.
“Oh. Well that’s nice of you two, I say, making my way to the door. He follows me and his smoky teakwood
two
scent causes the butterflies to flutter in my stomach.
“Where are you heading?” He asked.

“Back to clean up.” I say waving my hands and he cringes at the sight.
“Well would you like to grab lunch after you’re done?” He asks and my stomach drops.
“I uh.” I begin but am interrupted.
“Beta Zane! Are you able to help us with the next training? General Lee’s wife is having her pup.” A warrior who enters the gym yells. Zane looks at me sheepishly and a blush works a way up his neck.
“Raincheck?” He asks and I smile.
“Go help.” I say and he nods, turning and walking in the direction of the warrior.
I hurriedly walk back to the packhouse and clean up, avoiding people on my way. I changed into a black jeans and the same style top, but this one is dark purple.
When I step out of my room, I run into Addie in the hallway.
“Hey girl. Everything okay?” She asks and I nod.
“Yeah, I’m good. Addie. Shouldn’t you be with Kai?” I ask, changing the subject. She glares at me.
“Don’t change the subject. What’s going on?” She asks and I smile.
“I hate that you know me so well.” I say and she shakes her head.
“You love it.” She counters and I make my way towards her, leading her back to the elevator. Once we get in, I hit the first floor button.
“Alpha Regan and Beta Zeke are coming back from their trip because they would like to meet me, the boy’s
mate.” I say and her eyes widen.
“Oooooh.” She says and I nod. “You needed to clear your head.” She states.
“Yea.” I answer and it falls silent.
“What are you going to do about the dads?” She asks and I sigh.
“I don’t know. Probably try to ignore them the best I can and just let it be. I guess.” I say and her face.
saddens.
“I wish I could help you.” She says and now I smile sadly.
