Chapter25
Killian’s POV
I am sitting in my office waiting nervously for Ziana and Adria to come and officially join the pack. My hands are sweaty and I can’t stop fidgeting. I know I messed up and I need to fix it. There is a knock at the door and I look up to see Adria and Ziana walk in. Her scent calms me and fills me with longing. She meets my eye and those electric purple eyes seem to stare into my soul.
“We are HEERREEE?” Adria sings, making me flinch. She is definitely not a singer. Ziana laughs then elbows Adria, forcing the air from her lungs. I could listen to that laugh all day.
“You ready Captain?” Adria asks, bringing my attention back to her. I scowl at her and the nickname.
“Addie.” Ziana hisses, making Adria bark out a laugh. They walk further into the room and the door opens again, as Kai walks in.
“Are we ready?” He asks, eyeing me and the women.
“Yup.” Adria chirps. Ziana forces a smile and it hurts me, I know she doesn’t have any choice in being here, but I was hoping that now that she has our marks she would at least try to give us a chance.
I clear my throat, grabbing the papers and setting them in an open area on my desk. I grab the ceremonial pen. It has a pin at one end to draw blood, the other end is the ink pen. Handing the pen over to Adria first she smiles.
“Are you willingly accepting this pack as your own?” I ask her. Her pink eyes sparkle.
“Yes.” She says and I nod.
“Do you promise to protect the pack to the best of your ability?” I ask.
“I promise.” She answers.
“Do you promise to uphold all of the values and laws of the pack?” I ask.
“I promise.” She answers again. I nod and motion towards the paper. She signs on the line and then pricks her finger and places it next to her signature. She hands me the pen and I follow her, signing my name then pricking my finger.
I feel the creation of packbond, closing my eyes at the odd sensation. I open them to see Kai hold Addie in his embrace. His happiness shines through our familial bond and I can’t help but smile.
“Welcome to the Ruby Reaper pack, Adria.” I say with a smile. She smiles.
“Thank you Alpha Killian.” She says, then we turn to Ziana, who eyes me. Her electric eyes stare into mine and for a moment I forget what I am supposed to do. A throat clears from beside me, drawing me back into
the moment.
“Are you willingly accepting this pack as your own?” I ask her. Her eyes hold no emotion, her face is blank so I can’t tell if she is happy or angry, or hell if she is lying with her answer.
“Yes.” She says and I smile, despite her lack of emotion.
“Do you promise to protect the pack to the best of your ability?” I ask
Chapter 25
“I promise.” She answers.
“Do you promise to uphold all of the values and laws of the pack?” lask.
“I promise.” She answers again. I take a deep breath and hand her the pen, motioning towards the paper, She takes a deep inhale then, turning and signing on the line and then pricks her finger and places it next to her signature. She hands me the pen back and I follow her, signing my name then pricking my finger.
I feel the pack bond grow as well as our mate bond, which surprises me. I hear her take a deep breath and my eyes snap open to her staggering back and placing a hand on her head.
I reach out and grab her, to keep her upright. Sparks shoot up my arms and through my entire body. Her eyes fly open and we stare at each other. I can feel her hesitancy through the bond and she quickly closes it off.
The feeling isn’t as strong as it will be when we complete it, but it’s still there sometimes. When she isn’t shutting it down.
“Welcome to the Ruby Reaper pack, mate.” I say and she smiles, then almost like a light switch it disappears.
“Thank you, Killian.” She says and even though there is no emotion on her face, hearing my name on her lips makes me happy. They go to leave and as Ziana walks past me I grab her arm to stop her.
“Can I talk with you, please?” I ask and she looks from me to Adria. Adria nods and drags Kai out of the room.
“See ya later Bee–yatch!” Adria calls and slams the door behind her. Ziana chuckles, then turns to me and her
smile fades.
“Look. I just wanted to apologize for what I did. It wasn’t right and I shouldn’t have done it. I just didn’t want to lose you. My fear of losing you pushed me to do some things I am not proud of. I hope that someday you will forgive me. I will work for your forgiveness for as long as I must. I have waited for you for my whole life and I refuse to lose you so easily. I just. I’m sorry.” I say, everything that I rehearsed went out the window when I looked into her eyes. She keeps her eyes on me. I see pain flash across her face before she covers it.
“I. I can’t.” She says and takes a deep breath. “Forgiveness is not something I give. There is respect and there is trust. You lost what I had for you, and. And I don’t know if you can earn it back.” She says, causing a pang
in my heart.
“What was lost can be found. What had been destroyed can be rebuilt.” I answer and she sighs.
“Are we done here?” She asks and I nod.
“I just want to let you know that my and Zane’s father will be returning from traveling soon. They heard about you and would like to meet you.” I answer and she nods her head, walking out of the door. Leaving me with
