Chapter 21
Evangelina’s POV
+5 Bonus >
Once we are transported home, I gather some members of my old pack to help situate the
new members. It will be tight, but we should have enough rooms and houses to hold them for now. I really need to work on the expansion now. I inform Maxwell that he will need to give me a headcount of the people who have joined and who he lost. He should have that to me by
tomorrow.
I go up to my office to start working on ideas for the expansion. I could use the earth gifted to
help build houses out of vines and trees, which I did before we could build cabins. Some of the
elemental houses are still here. I could also have the water gifted create a stream to add in water to the homes. That is the best I can give them until we have enough supplies to build
more cabins. I sigh and look at the clock hanging up on the wall, 2:30 AM. It looks like I won’t
be getting any sleep tonight. I continue to work on some of the designs and create a list who
will be able to build such intricate homes. It seems like no time at all when there is a knock on
my door and Linc walks in.
“Have you been to bed?” He asks in a tired voice.
“No. Have you?” I ask with a smirk and he rolls his eyes.
“I had a 30 minute nap.” He answers and I nod my head, looking towards the clock and seeing that it is 4:00 in the morning.
“What are you doing up to now? You could have still gotten 2 hours of sleep.” I ask him.
“I offered my spare bedroom to Henry, to provide another room for the new members. Henry snores like he is sawing logs. It’s hard to do anything when that is all you hear, let alone sleep. “He says and I laugh.
“You have slept through one of our attack alarms before. I doubt a little snoring would hinder your ability to rest.” I point out to him and he rubs the back of his neck, looking a little
awkward then I see Marie walk in with her grumpy face.
“Good morning sunshine.” I state and she scowled at me.
“Okay. What do you two want? I know you are not losing out on precious sleep because of snoring or because you feel like pulling all nighters.” I say, giving them the ‘alpha knows all‘ look. Linc sighs and sits down on one of the chairs in front of my desk while Marie makes her way to another one. Something it up because she normally sits on the couch.

“Who was that on the battlefield with you?” Linc asks, serious. I knew this one was coming.
“Honestly I don’t know.” I say and they look at eachother then back to me.
“Well, it seemed like he knew you.” Marie snips at me.
“Well, I don’t know him.” I snip back and her eyes widen in surprise. She is not used to me
biting back and normally I don’t. I pride myself on always being calm and not letting things get
to me.
“Look, I am sorry. I just don’t know who this man is, but he showed me a few things that says I
should know him.” I say and they both look at me in confusion.
“What do you mean he showed you?” Linc asks.
“What I mean is that he showed me memories of him taking care of me. In each of the scenes
he showed me I was locked in chains.” I answer and they both look at me in disbelief.
“You don’t remember him at all? Even with those memories?” Marie asks.
“I said I don’t. I wouldn’t lie. I don’t know who that man is. All I know is that he kept calling me‘
love‘ and that I was his and he would be seeing me soon.” I answer and shiver in disgust.
“Well I think that he is in charge of the rogues who attacked today, because when he left so
did all the other rogues.” Linc says trying to keep the peace in the atmosphere.
“Well s**t. I not only have a goddess who demands I do what she says but also a psychotic
man stalking me.” I say and Marie rolls her eyes.
“I mean you are attractive, maybe you have more people who are obsessed with you than you
don’t know about.” Marie says with a smirk.
“Like you?” I ask and she scoffs.
“You wish. You know that you’re not my type. I prefer blondes.” Marie says and I place a hand
on my chest and gasp.
“You wound me Marie. I just don’t think I can go on.” I joke and she laughs while flipping me
off. Linc is just smirking on the sidelines.
“So what about me?” Linc asks and Marie rolls her eyes.
“What is it about the word blonde that you do not understand?” She asks and Linc mimics me,
putting a hand on his chest feigning hurt. Then he turns to me.
