Chapter 23
Evangelina’s POV
Nali squints her light gray eyes at Linc and gets in the readying position.
“Begin.” I say and Nali immediately runs toward Linc supermanning it, her body in the air, fist
in front, how she got that momentum, I have no clue. Linc catches he fist before she could
connect it with his face. It seemed that she was prepared for this because she takes his wrist
with her other hand and brings her feet to the front of her, kicks him in the stomach with both
legs propelling her back in the air and making him slip on the mud and start to fall into the
mud.
She breaks from the grip and somersaults in the mud then pops back up.
She gives him time to get back up then runs towards him again, throwing punches and ending
with a kick. He grabbed her leg, twisting it and forcing her to the ground. Before she could get
up he knelt on the base of her back and put an arm around her neck, forcing her to tap out.
They stay like that for a second after she taps out and he clears his throat and stands up.
She glaring at the ground in either anger or embarrassment, I can’t tell.
“Nali where the hell did you get the superhero move from?” I ask, breaking the slight silence.
“I made it up.” She said looking to the side toward nothing in particular.
“That was really good! I also liked how you attacked first, knowing that it would throw him off
balance.” I say and she nods her head smiling slightly.
“I looked back in his memories for little snips of information and found that he does not do
the best when somebody attacks first.” She says and I nod my head.
“Good job girls. Continue training and maybe next time you visit we can work on jumbling an opponent’s head with memories or visions to win. That one takes way more practice to time out perfectly though.” I say and they nod their head excitedly. I then turn my attention to Henry
who is smiling like a big German Shepherd.
“Alright little Hen, it’s your turn.” I say and his smile immediately drops and he looks at me.
“What?” He asks.
“Oh. You didn’t think I would let you off the hook, did you?” I ask him with a smirk.
“Well, kinda. Yea.” Henry says and I laugh, walking out to the field.

“Don’t hold back, gifts, and shifting are allowed.” I say and he nods his head in understanding.
I look at Linc and he nods.
“Begin.” Linc says, and we begin to circle each other. I see water shoot towards my face and dodge then take a cross to the jaw. As he follows through I grab his wrist pulling him forward
and kneeing his face. I pushed him to the ground after but before I could pin him a big gush of
water pushed me back.
Once the water stops I start to throw pictures of us training other times to disorient him. He
still charges forward, but stumbles here and there trying to decipher what is current or a
memory. Once I feel he has had enough I run behind him and kick him to the ground, place my
legs on either side of his back and put my arm around his neck. He struggles for a moment,
but then stops.
I suddenly feel this sickening feeling that all the water is being pulled out of my body. Great
Mason must have taught him that. I let go and stand to my feet, and the feeling goes away as
he stands. A little pissed off now, I rush him and start to throw punch after punch and kick
after kick. He blocks them left and right until I manage to uppercut him. He loses his balance
and falls on his back. I stand over him and he smirks.
“Alright I’m done getting my a*s kicked.” He says and I fake disappointment.
“What? We haven’t even let our wolves out to play.” I say and his eyes widen slightly.
“Hell no, we ain’t doing that. Your wolf would tear me a new a*shole.” He says and I laugh at
Veena saying that the statement is true. I reach out a hand to help him up and he pulls me
down to the mud next to him then smothers my face with mud. I glare at him and he laughs
then I look up to the sky. The sun is setting making the gray rain clouds look burnt orange.
“You did good. I see that Mason taught you a few things.” I say and he smirks at me.
“Why did you let him go? You nearly had him.” Nali asks.
“Well it seems that Mason has taught him how to pull water from the body.” I say and she
looks at me curiously.
“You can do that?” She asks.
“With enough practice and patience, yes. You really need to be calm and have focus when doing it though, it is very complicated. Most either don’t have enough power to do it or can’t do
it without killing the other person. Good job Henry.” I say getting up and giving him a smile as he stands up as well.
