Chapter 41
Evangelina’s POV
The next morning around 7:15, I get a mindlink from my guard in the tower at the entrance that Ingrid is back with another woman. I sigh and quickly finish my coffee and change. I haven’t had a day to truly enjoy my morning coffee in a while and I miss the mundane routine.
I walk to the veil and see Ingrid with her transporter and a woman who looks like an older version of the twins, but with blue eyes. I stare in wonder at why the hell the Queen is here. She hates rogues.
“Where the hell are we Ingrid?” Queen Iris asks, trying to hide the fear and irritation in her voice. “Just wait, Iris. You’ll see.” Ingrid answers and Iris scoffs.
“I should have never agreed to come with you. I was just so disgusted with my son that I would rather risk getting killed by rogues than see him with that disgusting wh*re.“She snaps and I flinch a little as she speaks about my mate and his chosen. Before any further conversation I walk toward the entrance and the veil
splits.
“I can assure you, you will not be injured in my pack.” I say and Iris lets out a yip of surprise and throws a bullet of water at me. I dodge it and it drops a few feet away. Ingrid smiles then walks through the veils and hugs me.
“Good morning Sweetheart.” She says as she pulls back with a smile on her face. “I hope you don’t mind that I brought a companion. She needs a good reality check.” She says and looks behind her shoulder to see Iris with her mouth open wide. I assume she is shocked about the greeting or maybe the slight insult thrown at
her.
“Are you going to enter Iris or are you going to stand there all day trying to catch flies?” Ingrid asks and Iris closes her mouth and glares at her sister. Then walks warily toward the veil and looks around in confusion.
“Wha.. What is this?” She asks in a breathy voice laced with worry.
“The veil that keeps my pack safe from intruders. Now if you could be kind enough to step through, we need to close it.” I say and she nods slightly and walks through it. It closes behind her and she turns and reaches for it. When she touches it, she gasps in shock at the fact that her hand has stopped moving and it now places on a hard surface. She turns around and starts looking around, her eyes wide and curious.
“If you could follow me I’ll give you a quick tour on the way to the training ground. I have the meeting with the pack scheduled for eight.” I say and turn to start walking. Ingrid is to my left and Iris goes to her sister’s left. “You’re the alpha?” Iris asks and I nod my head, even though she isn’t looking at me. She is too busy taking in her surroundings.
“Yes I am. I am not sure what you have heard about my pack, but they will not act out against visitors unless they feel threatened. We also have many types of species living here, so don’t be surprised when you come across them.” I say as we continue to walk.
“Ingrid warned me about that.“Aris says and I can’t help but roll my eyes. If they weren’t so prejudiced about other species, they wouldn’t have to be warned. I keep quiet as we continue our walk, pointing out different things along the way.

Chapter 41
Once we reach our town square, there are a few stragglers making their way to the training fields
“You’re pack is beautiful Iris says, shocking me.
“Even though we’re rogues?” I ask pointedly and she looks down for a second before looking back up.
1.. I just didn’t realize that rogues could be so.. I don’t know the word.” She says, stumbling for words,
“Civilized? Humane?” I ask and she sighs.
“1. Well. Yes. I guess.” She says.
“It’s fine. Most of my pack members hate the Royal Pack, even though the princesses and the royal gamma came here. They still don’t like the pack.” I say, not sure why I am trying to reassure her.
“Why on earth would they hate the royal pack? Are you sure we’re safe here?” Iris screeches and I shake my head. I shouldn’t have said anything.
“They won’t go against me. And if I am personally walking with you they know I allowed you here. You are fine.” I say and she huffs.
