The Rogue Alpha and the Werewolf King (by Hailey Kristine) novel Chapter 47

Evangelina’s POV

Did I say something wrong? She asks as she grabs a paper towel and dabs the water on the steering wheel.

No. It’s just. I could just picture Linc and Marie’s horrified faces if they heard you say that.I answer and start chuckling. That would be hilarious.

Why would they be horrified? It’s natural to have children after being mated. She says and I shake my head.

I don’t think that either one of them thought they would find a mate so thoughts of children vanished with that.I answer truthfully.

It isn’t uncommon for people to find their mates when they’re older. We do live to be over 200.She says and I nod my head.

Would you accept an adopted child as a grandpup?I ask, thinking of Marie and Tali. Iris scoffs like I offended her.

Of course I would. I’m not some purebred monster. She answers.

I’m sorry. It’s just that some people may not treat the adopted child the same as blood.” I answer and she shakes her head.

An adopted child is no different than blood. Even if they don’t do the parental blood binding when taking in a child.” She answers and I can’t help the respect that starts to build for her.

Could you tell me about them? Linc and Marie? I haven’t heard much other than how they treat the girls.Iris asks and I sit quiet for a minute deciding what to tell her.

I don’t want to say much because their history is for them to tell. Linc is short for Lincoln. I have known him

since childhood. He is an Alpha wolf and is my beta. Marie I met about ten years ago. She is also an Alpha

and is my head gamma. They are good people and would do anything to help their pack and the people they

love.I say and she nods her head.

I respect that you chose not to share their story. No matter how many questions I may have now after that vague introduction to them. She says and I chuckle at the little frustration in her voice.

You know my son, Warrick, used to be more like you.She says and floors me from the turning point in the conversation. I clear my throat before speaking.

Yeah?I say in a question form.

Yes, he used to be so kind and forgiving. Then he met his first mate and he became colder after that. His hatred for rogues grew exponentially, and so did mine after the attack. Then he met his chosen mate and became colder, more mean. I don’t even recognize him any..I didn’t get a chance to hear the rest of her sentence because I was thrown into a vision.

A group of 10 people standing across the road all with guns, pointing at us. They fire and before I could see what happens I am pulled back into the van. I see that the van stopped, I must have slammed on the

Evan, are you okay? What’s the matter?Iris asks in a panic voice.

How strong is your water?I ask and she looks at me in confusion.

Can you pull it from the air and ground? Can you use it to create a seemingly impenetrable shield? Even for bullets?I ask and I see her eyes dart around looking for danger. I also hear her wolf growl at the potential threat.

Yes.She answers simply.

“I don’t know when, but there will be a line of people on the road, all with guns. They are going to shoot at us. Stay vigilant and when you see them I need you to put a shield around us. I will drive through them.I say and

she nods her head in understanding.

I start diving and about four hours of us being extremely alert i see shadows in the distance. I know that Iris sees them too because I hear her take a deep breath and I see water start to form on the sides of the van. We get close enough to the people to see their guns pointing at us and then water surrounds the front of the van. I can’t see anything but the liquid.

I keep driving, what I think is straight and hear bullets splashing into the water and see them being redirected around the van. She is using the force of the water to change the direction of the bullets. I feel the van go over what feels like speed bumps. About 30 seconds later and driving 80 miles per hour the water cleared in the front of the van and when we saw nothing in front of us and heard nothing behind us she released the

water.

It’s a good thing this is a straight road.” She jokes, but I still hear tightness in her voice.

Yea.” I answer while continuing to look behind us in the mirrors to ensure there are no other threats.

Who was that? She asks after we are sure there are no threats.
