Evangelina’s POV
The new extension, I will admit, is very impressive. It is essentially another pack house attached to the caste. It has communal showers, a game room, a theater room and more. It also has two kitchens, one for the large pack meals to be cooked and another with the essentials for people to go for individual needs. That is supposed to be more of a private area for the higher ups, but I’m not selfish. It also has a dinning hall that fits up to 1,000 people when crunched in, but fits our 700 comfortably which surprises the hell out of me. If the extension is this big it makes me wonder how big the dang castle is. It looks big from the outside, but not nearly as big and the inside actually is.
I walk into the dining room and look around, there is a U Shaped table that sits on top of a lifted platform. It isn’t a big difference, maybe a foot taller than the ground. I scowl at the thought of being placed above my pack members, but as I look around I realize it might be so that the Alpha can see everybody and everything going on because the place is packed. The U ensures everybody at the table can see everything.
When I go to the table the middle seat is left open and I sit down.
“Are you all unpacked?” Nali asks from the side of the table. Linc is sitting at the end of the table on the right, while Nali is sitting at the corner with an empty seat next to her. Henry is to my left, then Marie. Tali is also in a corner, but what catches my eye and surprises me is that Iris is sitting next to her. She smiles at me and takes a bite of her food.
“Uh. Yeah. At least the room is. I still need to work in the office.” I answer and she smiles and nods.
I take a bite of my food when Mason Walks up with a plate of food.
“Alright big papa’s here, let the shenanigans begin.” He states as he takes a seat, I hear coughing from the side and see Tali patting her mother on the back. I smile then swallow my food and look at Mason, his dark blue eyes looking at Iris curiously.
“Mason, this is Queen Iris.” I say motioning to Iris whose face is bright red from choking on her food. His eyes widen in surprise and I see red start to split his face from embarrassment. It almost looks like he is a red man, with his dark red hair and now red face. We all start to chuckle as his face gets even more red. “Hey Big Rooster, you should show Mama Iris here how to do that thing by pulling water from the attacker’s bodies.” Henry said, causing me to bark out a laugh. I don’t think he realized that he used the nickname. Iris’s eyes widen as she looks at Henry, like she is about to pass out.
Mason gets even more red, if it was even possible.
“I will use it on you if you don’t shut your piehole.” Mason grunts and looks down towards his food.
“These are some very colorful nicknames. I remember when I was younger I was called Hot Spring.” Iris says, making everyone look at her wide eyes. “What?” She asks indifferently.
“HA! I like her.” Mason barks and points to Iris.
“Why Hot Spring?” Nali asks and Iris blushes.
“Well, I had a temper and would spring into any fight given the chance.” She says and I see a look of relief wash over Nali, Tali and Henry. “I also attracted many men and being that I have the water gift it is kind of

fitting.” She adds and then Nall and Henry pull a horrified face.
“Mom!” Tall screeches and also matches the horrified faces of Nall and Henry.
“What? It’s not like I hopped from man to man before I met your father. It was just that they flocked to me, and I turned them down nicely. Well sometimes not so nice, but I turned them down. Most of them.” She says. with a wave of her hand.
“Mom!” Nali yells and Iris waves her hand dismissively.
“You are all old enough to hear about this. You’re not children.” She says and Nali shakes her head.
“Well, that sounds like a fitting nickname. This one.” Mason says, pointing to Tali. “Is little mouse, then we got Mine Shaft.” Pointing to Maire. “Henry is Little Hen, Linc is Micky, and Miss Nali here is Minie.” Mason
gives everybody’s nickname. He rarely uses names with people he is close to.
“What about Evan?” Iris asks, looking at me.
“Oh she is Phoenix.” He says and I look at him with a raised eyebrow. He has never called me that, or
anything else other than Evan or Alpha.
“I like it.” Iris says and the others nod in agreement.
“Nobody is calling me anything other than Evan or Alpha. Capiche?” I ask and they roll their eyes but answer
yes anyway.
After I am finished eating I stand up and make my way to the front of the table. Everybody quiets down and
looks up towards me.
“Thank you everybody for making this as smooth a transition as possible. Tomorrow will be a rest day to explore the pack and get settled. After that we will begin training again. As per usual all members are required to train. Classes will be picking up again in a week once we figure out the locations. They will also be modified to incorporate more training. As always if you have any questions or concerns please find me.” I say and they all nod their heads.
“Is there going to be a meet and greet for both packs?” I hear a voice I recognize as one of our teens, Ben, asks. Well sh*t, I didn’t think about that.
“To be honest, Ben, I didn’t think about that. It is a great idea and I will get with King Warrick to see if we can do something tomorrow. Thank you for the idea.” I answer and I see him beam at the praise.
“Again thank you all for being patient with this change. If anybody else has any other ideas feel free to come to me. Enjoy the rest of your dessert and have a good night if I don’t see you later.” I say and they all smile, turning back to their food. I turn back to my table and go to grab my water. I see Iris out of the corner of my eye, with slightly wide eyes and her brows scrunched together in confusion.
“Are you okay?” I ask her and her eyebrows raise at my question.
“I. I’m sorry I am just surprised at what just happened.” She answers and I look at her slightly confused.
“What do you mean?” I ask and she shrugs her shoulders.
“Just that you admitted to not knowing and actually took the idea the boy gave you.” She answered a scrunch my eyebrows.
