Warrick’s POV
The move went smoothly, but when I was told that Evan was going to be driving I couldn’t help the worry that snaked its way into my mind. Then when my mother told me that she was going to join Evan on the drive, my worry intensified.
I know my mother can handle herself and so can Evan, but that didn’t help ease the worry. I wanted to send some warriors with them, but none of the people that could transport in my pack knew where to go, and the rogue pack’s transporters were drained. It would take them at least a day to gain enough power back to transport a group of people. They also refused to give me a location, which pisted me off more than anything.
The only hope I had was when they got to Aunt Ingrid’s pack. I knew where they would be from there. I had scouts all along the road leading from my aunt’s pack to my pack. That is how I knew that the van that Evan and my mother were in was attacked. After the van mowed over the attackers, my guys went and killed the remaining few.
I was surprised when I entered our dining room to see that my mother wasn’t there. Henrietta, Jay, Jax, and Reana were in their normal spots. Hadley started joining us for dinner as well. She was sitting in my mother’s normal spot to my right.
I give them all a small smile and sit down. Servers begin to enter as soon as I sit down to deliver dinner. It was quiet and I can tell that everybody is in their own heads, thinking.
“Did your mother make it back? I notice she is not here.” Handley says reaching for my hand. I see worry etched in her bright green eyes.
“Yes she made it back. She must be resting from the long drive.” I answer and he bobs her head.
“Yes I hear she was attacked on the way here. It’s a good thing nothing happened to her.” Hadley answered and I looked at her quizzically.
“I never told you she was attacked.” I say in question and her eyes widen slightly as she looks around the
room.
“It’s all over the town. Alpha Evan put Queen Iris in danger. Everybody knows about the attack.” She answers innocently and I know she is telling the truth, but I see the skepticism on the other’s faces.
“That makes sense. I know alot of our warriors like to come back and tell people about their missions. There is always one that over exaggerates what happens in every group.” I say and look around the room.
All of the skepticism left the room when they took in what I said. They all know that there is at least one warrior who comes back and tells people about the mission.
“Jax, find the warrior or warriors and make sure they receive an appropriate punishment. We don’t need people running their mouths when they come back from a mission.” I direct Jax.
“I’ll do it as soon as we finish here.” He answers and I nod my head.
We sit and eat dinner in silence, enjoying the food.
“Alpha Evan isn’t what I expected.” Hadley speaks and I look at her questioningly.
Chapter 50
“What do you mean?” I ask and she looks around the room and lands her green eyes on me
“I mean, first I thought she would be a man. And second I thought that man would be all scraggly like other rogues, maybe underfed or mutilated in some way. Instead she is this beautiful woman. She pauses looking at Jax. “Don’t you think Jaxon?” She asks him and I see a blush creep up his neck. He clears his throat before speaking.
“Uh.. Yeah I guess.” He answers awkwardly. Hadley beams at Jax. “Kinda rude though.” He says and Hadley deflates slightly.
“I am sure that she just had a long day of driving. I have been told you get crotchety when driving long distances.” Hadley says and raises an eyebrow pointedly at Jax and he narrows his eyes at her, causing me to grumble.
“Sure. Maybe.” Jax says when he realizes I am not happy.
“I think it would be a wonderful idea if you gave her a tour.” Handley says excitedly.
“I think that should be Warrick’s job being that he is a fellow Alpha. It wouldn’t look good for me to do it.” Jax answers and Hadley scoffs, waving her hand dismissively.
“Nonsense, she knows that Warrick is busy with his Kingly duties. You, being his second, would be the perfect for the job.” She says and he grumbles. That is a good idea, I don’t want to spend any more time alone with her then I have to, but she does need a tour if we are to be amiable and welcoming. I squeeze
Hadley’s hand, looking at her praisingly.
“That is a great idea baby. Jax you are to take Alpha Evan on a tour no later than tomorrow evening.” I say
and he nods his head.
“Yes Alpha.” Jax says getting up from the table. “If you’ll excuse me I need to find the motormouth of the community.” He says walking out before he is actually excused. He confuses me. He is rarely himself anymore and I don’t understand why.
After we finished our dinner I walked up to my office, Hadley went into town to visit some friends and the rest went on their way. As soon as I sit down my wolf starts pacing in my head. I hear a knock on the door and from the scent of chocolate and lavender I know why Viggo is acting up.
“Come in.” I say and the door creaks open, revealing Evan in simple leggings and baggy t–shirt. Her hair is up in a messy bun, but her eyes lock onto mine causing my heart to stutter a little.
“Your highness, I came to speak with you about pack bonding.” She says, looking around the office. I turn my brow up quizzically.
“Pack. Bonding?” I ask and she enters the room while closing the door behind her. Successfully filling my office with her chocolate lavender scent. She walks to the middle of the room as if she doesn’t know whether
to sit or not.
“Yes. One of my pack members mentioned it and I admit I didn’t think to do one, but an event that introduces both of the packs. It will also show our packs that we are serious about treating each other with respect. I was thinking of a large cookout that could hold both packs.” She all but rambles too fast for me to comprehend.
Is she nervous around me? My wolf is watching her through my eyes and I can feel the awe coming from him. I mentally reprimand him, reminding him that Hadley is our one true love, but he growls at me. I guess she

takes my silence as a no because she steps closer to my desk.
“I can plan it. It will be for tomorrow, before any joint training can happen. You don’t have to do anything but provide the food. I think that this is needed in order to really have the packs work together.” She says and 1 nod my head.
I
“Fine. But don’t come crying to me when the stress of planning an event in one day is too much.” I say rudely. I am not sure why I did that. I genuinely think it is a good idea, it’s like I couldn’t help myself. Her eyes harden as she looks at me.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head, YOUR HIGHNESS. I’ll take my woes elsewhere. Goddess knows you wouldn’t know what to do anyway.” She answers then turns to walkout, my anger rising with each step she takes.
“Please let your staff know of the event and that I am planning it. I will need all hands on deck.” She says as she closes the door and I let out a loud growl. She is too full of herself and her scent is scattering all my thoughts. I hiss as I feel the strain of my c*ck pressing against the zipper of my jeans. When I became hard? I
don’t know. What I do know is that I need release now.
“Hadley. I need you home. Now.” I growled through the mindlink and made my way to our bedroom. Minutes later she comes running into our bedroom out of breath and flushed.
