Chapter 51
Evangelina’s POV
As I am walking through the hallway that connects both packs, I get a terrible pain in my heart that makes my knees give out. I fall to the ground as I clutch my chest. I already have another night of no sleep ahead of me due to planning the gathering but dealing with the pain of the mate bond is just a cherry on top. I end up crawling to the dark corner of the hallway and clutching my knees to my chest.
I can’t help the tears that stream from my cheeks at the pain. It feels like bolts of electricity are sparking through my entire body, gone are the tiny, merely uncomfortable sparks that were there. No, now that I am closer to him the bond hates me even more and so does he.
I am convinced he is doing this to punish me for not telling him my name. After what seemned like forever, but what was really 5 minutes or so the pain stops and I gather myself. Thank goddess the packs haven’t started mingling yet, or somebody would have definitely found me hiding in the corner sobbing. I am NOT one for looking weak, that would have pissed me off to no end.
As I get up and move I feel like I have been hit by a semi, my body is so sore. I walk slowly around the corner and run into Iris hugging and telling the girls good night. She turns around and stops whatever she was saying and stares at me.
“What on earth happened to you?” She asks in surprise and concern.
“Nothing important. If you would excuse me I have to go plan this gathering for the packs tomorrow. Have a good night.” I say as I make my way past them. I see her eyeing me skeptically and the girl’s worried faces. “Why are you doing that? And more specifically alone?” Iris asks me and I shake my head.
“I volunteered to. It’s the only way he would agree to it.” I answer and she huffs and looks towards the girls. “You two ready for an all–nighter?” She asks them and they smile and nod.
“You really don’t have to help. It’s fine.” I say and she shakes her head so hard, I swear she would snap her neck if she wasn’t a werewolf.
“Nonsense.” She snaps as she walks past me and to the place that I have yet to unpack, my office.
I sigh and follow her, the twins following behind me. I reach out to my wolf, but she is hiding. I feel her pain and I know that she took a lot more of the pain from me through the bond then I realized.
I am pi*sed. It’s one thing to hurt me purposefully, but my wolf? My wolf is another story, she didn’t do jack squat to the man and he hurts her to the point she isn’t speaking with me. That is not okay.
Warrick’s POV
I wake up from a dreamless sleep and rub my eyes. I look at my phone and my eyes bug out. It’s 10:00, I never sleep this late. I quickly get up and get dressed, brushing my teeth and fixing my hair. I can take a show later.
As I make my way to the main castle kitchen I hear arguing from the main kitchen. I smell the people before I see them. I decide to stay back to give me one good reason to throw the Alpha and her misfits out of my castle.
“I am the Luna and I need to be informed of these things.” I hear Hadley say with venom in her voice. My

eyebrows shoot to my hairline. My sweet Hadley? No, she must have been antagonized.
“Please.” My mother scoffs. “The only thing you should be informed of is when my son need to wet his dick She said disgustedly. When has my mother gotten so hostile? I feel Hadley’s anger and just as I go to make my way around the corner I hear a soft but firm voice that stops me.
“Okay that’s enough. Iris, Hadley is your son’s chosen mate and whether you like her or not that crossed a line.” I hear my mother scoff and mumble ‘over my dead body‘. “And Hadley, I was tasked with planning the gathering last minute, Iris found out and offered to help. If Warrick wanted you to help then he should have told you.” Evan says, almost sounding too nice, like she is forcing it.
“KING Warrick. You have no right to call him by his first name.” Hadley says and before anything could go much further I walk into the kitchen and snake my arm around Hadley. She nuzzles closer to me and I feel Viggo rustle in anger.
I looked around to see that the little scene had an audience. About 10 cooks and servants were paused watching the scene in front of them. When they meet my gaze they continue working on whatever it was they were doing in the first place.
“Technically rogues don’t answer to the crown, so I don’t have to call him that. I do so when needed.” Evan states and my eyes fall on her.
She is wearing a long, blue, flowy summer dress with flowers on it. Her arms are bare which shows me her slender, muscular arms and.. My eyes stop when I see another large scar that travels down her arm. I begin to look over her body more intently and that is when I see another scar that looks like a bullet hole through her left shoulder.
Viggo begins to pace and growls startling Hadley who is tucked in at my side. She looks up to me and I pull my eyes from Evan’s to look at Hadley. Hadley smiles slightly then nuzzles her head in my chest, wrapping her arms around me. I see my mother roll her eyes and she turns to walk away. I stop her before she can leave by clearing my throat.
“Mother, you need to apologize to Hadley.” I say and I see her stiffen, then turn around. She is also wearing a summer dress and it doesn’t take me long to realize that my mother put Evan in the dress she is wearing.
“Excuse me?” She asks and I give her a warning look.
“You heard me mother. Apologize.” I growl and she narrows her eyes at me then looks to Hadley who is in my arms still, but is now facing my mother. I see my mother’s lip curl and can tell she is about to do the exact opposite of what I asked.
“Iris.” Evan says, pulling my mother’s gaze to her. I see Evan and even though no words are exchanged, I know that they are somehow exchanging thoughts with no words even though that is impossible. I see my mother nod her head once and grumble ‘fine as she shifts her attention to Hadley. That is odd. My mother rarely listens to me let alone another person.
“I’m sorry for calling you a wh*re who only spreads your legs at my son’s beck and call.” My mother says and I hear Evan cough and look at her trying to stifle a laugh. Before anything else could be said my mother stomps off and I look to Evan.
“Well at least she apologized. If you’ll excuse me I need to proceed with putting the picnic together.” She says and turns and follows the path my mother went, long dress flowing with grace as she walks.
