Chapter 53
Evangelina’s POV
As I make my way through the crowd i smile and greet everybody. Most from the royal pack look at me questioningly. I don’t feel as much hostility as I thought I would, just more curiosity more than anything
I am at the food table making my plate with some of my pack members who followed me when I hear a low mumble from a man ahead of us getting food with a group of people around him.
“Rogue trash. I don’t know why King Warrick allowed them on our lands, they will kill us all.” He says, glaring around at my pack members near him. My pack members around me stop what they are doing as I continue what I am doing, ignoring the man and his group of friends. I can almost feel the anger coming from him and the group he is with. My people follow my lead and hesitantly start gathering food.
The man at the end of the table finished gathering what food he was getting and begins to walk toward a empty spot with his friends. They sit down and begin eating and by the time I have made my way to the end of the line he is done with his food. He is a bigger, burly man with a blond buzz cut. He looks around and I hear his wolf growl, setting Veena on edge.
“They come here and take over the castle and now they are eating our food. The vermin should be put down, not welcomed.” The man speaks louder and I see some in his group agree while others look around warrily. My pack members that heard the comment glance at the man and I can feel their unease and anger through the pack link. The ones around me look between me and the man as they can feel my aura that I am struggling to keep in.
“What should I be quiet about? It’s the truth.” The man barks out to one of his comrades. “Whether they have a ‘blessing‘ from the goddess or not they are still rogues. Not to mention they have other species and disgusting half breeds.” He snarls. By now everybody in a 30 foot radius has slowed their actions and the talking stopped. I take a deep breath and sit my plate down on the table, then see the worry on my pack member’s faces.
Veena is scratching to get out and deal with this blatant disrespect of the man, and I calm her down as much as I can. I walk up to where the man and his group are sitting and stand behind him. I push out some of my aura and the group goes quiet. They man cranes his neck to look at me. I see the disdain in his forest green
eyes.
“I suggest you leave sir. This is an event for open minded people and we will not tolerate people being disrespectful.” I say sternly and the man laughs as he stands up and faces me. Three of the 7 people he is sitting with stand as well. All of them, cross their arms across their chest and glare at me.
“YOU and your disgusting pack need to be the ones to leave.” He growls and by now, with all of the heightened hearing everybody has, they have quieted down. Except for the few kids at the makeshift playground at the furthest edge of the field.
Veena bristles and I let out more of my aura. I know that my eyes have gone so dark they almost look bi The man falters, but he still doesn’t back down. His friends have bowed their heads in fear.
“I suggest you leave or there will be consequences.” I growl and the man looks worried now. He has sweat beading at the top of his head from fighting my aura and I can help smile from it.

Chapter 53
“You leave.” The man grits out in pain. Before I could do anything there was a hand on my shoulder and I shot
the hand daggers.
“Vincent, you heard the rules, yet you disobey them. The punishment is 1 week in the dungeons and if the disrespect continues you will lose your warrior position.” Beta Jaxon says from beside me. The man named Vincent goes wide eyed.
“That is not fair! They shouldn’t be here!” He screams frantically pointing at me. I pull my aura back in and
take control from Veena, my eyes are back to normal.
“You dare question your King’s decision?” Beta Jaxon asks and the man looks around frantically. He calms down when he sees a grumpily looking Warrick on the outskirts of the circle that surrounded us.
I am thrown into a vision of what will happen next.
“Your Highness. This cannot be. You understand that this pack is a danger. You cannot allow them to be here!” Vincent shouts and before anything could be said Warrick is behind the man and snaps his neck. My jaw drops and my eyes go wide. Warrick looks around with black eyes indicating his wolf is half out.
“Anyone who dares to question me, questions the throne and is considered treason. Treason is punishable by death.” He booms and the crowd looks down, cowering in his aura.
I blink, clearing my head of the vision and I see Vincent still standing there when his eyes land on Warrick. “Your.” He starts but I interrupt him by walking into his eyesight.
“Done here. You need to leave.” I say sternly and the man glares at me, not getting that I am saving his pathetic life. He goes to step further to make eye contact with Warrick but doesn’t need to because Warrick is beside me. I can feel his anger through the aura that is starting to seep out.
“I believe Alpha Evan asked you and your friends to leave.” Warrick growls out, making the man flinch and bow his head.
“Leave!” Warrick bellows and the man scrambles and runs as fast as he could through a larger group of people. His friends follow behind just as quickly, Warrick’s anger isn’t leaving as he growls at people around us. I put a hand on his bicep, quieting and surprising him.
“Let this be the only warning everybody has. Everybody please try to enjoy the evening. If you can’t then I suggest you leave.” I say and they all turn away. Sparks tingle on my hand and I quickly remove it from Warrick. I look at him to see him glaring at my hand, any more than that and I wouldn’t have a hand.
Before he could do or say anything I turned and walked back to the table, forcing a smile at everybody there and grab my plate and a blanket. I quickly find an open spot and unroll the blanket and sit. Mindlessly eating when I am joined by Henry and Mason. A few seconds later I am handed a solo cup from behind. I take it and look at the woman holding the cup out to me.
“You did good back there. I probably would have torn him a new one. Or waterboarded him.” Iris says and makes her way to the opposite of the blanket with a plate of food of her own.
