Chapter 54
Evangelina’s POV
“You shouldn’t reprimand her. She speaks the truth.” He says and I give him a look.
“NEITHER one of you needs your feelings on the matter public.” I say and look between them.
“The whole pack feels that way except a select few. Those few being the ones who want to be close to the future queen and are a*s kissers. You should hear it. ‘Oh you’re so smart. Oh you’re so pretty. Blah Blah Blah: “Jaxson mocks and I roll my eyes while Iris laughs.
“If that isn’t accurate then the sky isn’t blue.” She says and Mason looks up.
“What happens if there are clouds in the sky?” Mason asks and I shake my head as the two begin to argue about whether the clouds cast doubt or not. Leave it to Mason to change the topic.
After we are all done eating we sit and chat for a while.
“I have been designated to give you a tour of the grounds. I was going to today, but you were busy with the whole planning thing.” Jaxon says to me and I smirk.
“Designated like I am a chore nobody wants to complete.” I say and he blushes. His light orange eyes dart to Henry who shrugs.
“Well honestly yeah.” Jaxon says and the blush creeps further up his face and I laugh and pat his shoulder. “It’s okay Beta Jaxon, Iris already gave me a quick tour this morning while we were out gathering items for the get together. You’re off the hook.” I say and he looks down then meets my gaze. His light orange eyes almost darkened a little.
“Jax.” He says and I raise a brow.
“Excuse me?” I ask and he smiles.
“You can call me Jax.” Jaxon says, surprising me.
“Oh. Uhhh… mmm. Okay.” I say, I do not know how to answer.
“We should go and get you introduced to some of our pack members.” Iris says, jumping up and dusting her dress off. She grabs her plate and I follow suit. We bid the guys good bye and start walking toward the trash
can.
“I think Jaxon likes you.” Iris states make me choke on the beer I was finishing to throw away.
“No.” I say sternly and she shrugs her shoulders in response.
“It wouldn’t be bad to move on Evan, It’s been years and after all you are an Alpha.” She says and I shake my
head.
“Aren’t you supposed to be introducing me to people?” I ask and she laughs, her blue eyes shining like
sun on an ocean.
“Real smooth Evan.” She says and turns on her heel, guiding me to the first set of people 20 feet away. After about 20 minutes of introductions and polite talk we make our way to the games area.

It looks like some of the adults took over the soccer field from the kids. They’re playing and Linc is the reti smile as we sit on some benches and watch. I tune into my surroundings and listen to different conversations and watch different actions. I want to ensure that people are being nice to one another
Something catches my eye as one of my pack members rushes up to me. He is one of my hybrids, wolf and vampire to be exact. He is heaving and his face tells me he is in pain.
“Anthony?” I ask as a tear makes a trail down his face. He is in his early 20s and has dark red hair. Being one of my best warriors in that age group, I am concerned when I see him so hurt.
“Alph. Alpha.” He chokes and I stand and embrace him as he breaks down, holding me like a child would their
mother.
“Shhhh. It’s okay.” I say as I run my hand through his longer red waves.
“No.. No it’s not.” He sobs out and I see that people around us have started watching our exchange. I squeeze him tighter, then pull him from me, placing my hand on his cheek to rid the stray tears. He is sniffling, but his mustard yellow eyes are now red from the crying.
“Tell me what happened.” I say and he looks down as more tears gather in his eyes.
“I. I met my mate. She. She is from the royal pack and she. She doesn’t want me.” He says as the tears drop to the ground.
“What do you mean Anthony? Did she reject you?” I ask and he shakes his head, looking up to meet my eyes.
“Not yet. But she is going to.” He says.
“Did she give you a reason?” I ask and he nods his head.
t snapped into place. We went to the outskirts of the forest and were “When we saw each other the bond talking when she realized that I was from the rogue pack. She started panicking and said that her alpha would kill her if he found out. Said she couldn’t be with me because her alpha wouldn’t allow it.” He says, his voice shaking the whole time. My anger flares, but I don’t let it out.
“Where is she now Anthony?” I ask and he shrugs.
“She started crying and ran further into the woods. I was too heartbroken to follow her.” He says and I pull him closer. I feel Iris‘ aura from behind me and even though she is angry, it still feels calming.
“Let’s go find her and maybe I can help.” I say and he nods his head. I follow him as he follows his mate’s scent and about 10 minutes later I hear a woman’s sniffling. We walked up to an area that held a couple of old tree houses.
“I. I said don’t follow me.” I hear a voice croak out from the porch of a tree house.
“I brought my Alpha Sofia. She wants to help.” Anthony answers the voice.
“NO! Why did you bring your Alpha. She will be just as mad as King Warrick.” The woman screeches and I sigh.
“Sofia I am not mad. I came to see if I could help you and Anthony talk. I am confused as to why you want to reject him.” I call out and I hear her growl slightly.
Figuring out which treehouse she was in I started climbing the ladder. When I reached the top, there was a woman sitting in a fetal position against the railing. Her head snaps up and her brown eyes meet mine.
