Chapter 55
Evangelia’s POV
As we walk to the castle I keep an eye out for any more mated couples. We stick to the outskirts of the crowd so we don’t get lost. I know that Sofia is slightly trembling and Anthony holds her tight behind me. I wish that she didn’t have to come with me, but I need him to give her permission to enter my pack, or it will get even more difficult if she declares herself rogue and joins my pack. I stop and turn to look at her.
“Sofia. I need you to mindlink your Alpha and ask him if you could speak with him.” I say and her eyes bug out as she begins to tremble more.
“No. No. 1. I can’t. Nobody requests to see the Alpha.” She stutters which confuses me. I look around to see if I know anybody around us from the royal pack that can let Warrick know he needs to be in his office, but I don’t see anybody. Then I hear it.
“Queen Iris!” I hear a kid yell and I look in the direction of the kid. Iris is hiding behind a tree far enough away from us that I wouldn’t have seen her. Forget smell. There are too many people and too much food to try and find a specific smell.
“Shhhh.” I hear Iris say to the child and I laugh.
“IRIS!” I yell and the people around me go quiet as they look at the queen. She steps out from the tree with a
blush on her face.
“Oh Alpha Evan, such a lovely surprise.” She says making her way closer to me.
“Mmhmmm.” I say giving her the mom look of ‘I know what you were doing‘.
“Can I help you with something?” She asks and I smile.
“Yes actually you can. As you know, I need to speak with Warrick. Can you mindlink him and ask that we meet in his office in five minutes?” I ask and she looks at me blankly for a second then nods her head.
“It’s done. Do you need any help?” She asks and I shake my head.
“No thank you. Go and enjoy yourself. I am sure there are plenty of people who would like to speak with the queen.” I say and her nose scrunches slightly at the thought. I chuckle and turn around to head into the castle, Anthony and Sofia following closely behind me.
With each step closer I can smell the fear that Sofia is emitting. Veena is stirring in my head at being in close proximity to her mate, but also in protection of our pack member and his mate.
When we reach his door I nod to the bench lying against a wall outside his door.
“I’ll come get you two in a minute.“I say and they nod and sit. Sofia practically climbs on Anthony’s lap and he holds her tightly. I turn and knock on the office door and it creeks open automatically. I look up to see that it is rigged to open at the push of a button. Why didn’t I think of that in my office? I walk into Warrick looking outside his window. He turns around and eyes me skeptically.
“You’re not my mother.” He says and I close the door.
“Well I would hope not.” I say when the door latches, telling me that the sound barrier is complete.
“I am waiting for my mother. She mindlinked me and told me it is urgent. I need you to leave.” He says and I

roll my eyes as he growls. Veena is pacing in my head and it doesn’t help that his scent of a bonfire that was smothered by fresh rain is all over the place.
“I am not sure what she told you, but she asked you to meet in your office because I needed to speak with you, not her.” I say and he grumbles then sits in his chair and crosses his arms.
If I were normal I would be intimidated by the imposing wolf behind the large desk, exuding power. Instead I am slightly turned on and absolutely appalled. His black hair is slicked back on the top and tan skin is glowing from the natural light in his office. The white button up shirt has three buttons undone, showing his chest, and the sleeves are rolled up with his muscles begging to break free.
“SO?” He asks and it snaps me from my thoughts. Dammit I shouldn’t be thinking of him like that when he so obviously doesn’t want me. Stupid mate bond.
“We need to talk about what would happen if one of our members found their mate in the opposite pack. In retrospect I didn’t think about talking to you about it when I asked for the gathering.” I say and his eyes widen slightly then narrow.
“It would be a normal mating request. I don’t know why you are asking.” He says like I am the dumb one.
“Well because I have different types of pack members. Would you allow a halfling to join your pack? Or even a full breed since we are rogues? What about witches? Or fae? Or even dragons?” I ask and his eyes are
calculating.
“It shouldn’t matter. I will accept them into the pack if they would like to join.” He says after a few seconds of thinking. I breathe out a slight sigh of relief that he isn’t that cold hearted. Also because that means after the battle he will accept my pack into his when I die. I quickly stop those thoughts from spiraling.
“I am assuming that since you called this meeting there is a couple that needs the blessing?” He asks and I
nod.
“Yes, one of your female wolves, and one of my half vampires and wolves found each other.” I say and his
brows scrunch in confusion.
“Why did my wolf not come to me?” He asks and I laugh, but quickly realize he was not joking.
“Oh um sorry. But have you seen yourself? You’re unapproachable and your hatred against rogues and other species may have them worried that you would lash out. You terrify your people.” I say honestly and I can feel his anger through his aura leaking out, but I can also feel sadness through the bond. The more I am around him the more the bond solidifies. I need to watch my end of it.
“You assume that my members cannot come to speak with me about these things because they fear me. I am more than welcoming to anybody who needs to speak with me.” He says and my jaw hits the floor. “Right because the woman was trembling with excitement, not fear, when she was walking with me to see you.” I say sarcastically and he narrows his eyes. “If you think you’re so welcoming, then why in the hell was she so scared of you that she wanted to reject her mate?” I ask and his eyes widen.
“That cannot be true.” He argues and I cross my arms and look at him.
