Warrick’s POV

The gall of this woman to say that I am unapproachable. My members fear me, but not to the point they can’t talk to me. My thoughts are completely annihilated as the couple walks into the room. The woman reeks with fear so pungent that it punches me in the gut. I am appalled, but still have doubt, the fear could be because of Evan. At that thought I immediately know that isn’t right, even I know that the woman exudes calmness

and warmth.

As the couple sits on the small decorative couch I have in my office against the wall farthest from my desk with a small table giving a little more space between it and the rest of the office. I see Evan grab one of the chairs that normally face my desk and turn it around to face the couple. I follow her lead with another chair and sit, staring at the young couple.

“So. Good news, Anthony, Sofia. I spoke with Alpha Warrick and he is prepared to welcome any members from the rogue pack who wish to transfer to the royal pack because they found their mate.” Evan says softly, but still with a bubbly energy. Anthony squeezes Sofia’s hand and her fear lessens, but doesn’t go away.

“I won’t have to reject him?” Sofia asks as tears build up in her eyes and looks at Anthony.

“Why would you think that?” I ask, trying to sound sensitive, but completely failing as Sofia flinches and her fear spikes, Good goddess, what is wrong with me?

“Well um.” Sofia starts then looks at Evan who gives her an encouraging nod. “Because he is half wolf. We. Well you don’t like other species. And he is a rogue. We all know how rogues are treated here. They’re threats and need to be eliminated.” She says and the whole atmosphere changes. Everybody’s back stiffens at the last part of her statement.

“Sofia. Their pack has been blessed. They are considered a pack in the mother moon’s eyes. Also they wouldn’t be allowed on this land if they were threats. You have found your mate. That is something to celebrate, not mourn. The goddess handpicked Anthony to be your other half. If you reject him it will feel like half of your soul is missing, you wouldn’t get a second chance. Why would you want to give that up?” I ask her and her bottom lip trembles.

“I don’t.” She answers and I smile slightly.

“Then don’t. You should fight for your mate bond no matter what.” I say and she nods her head.

“Thank you Alpha.” She says and bows her head slightly.

“No need to thank me. The goddess is the one who deemed this man worthy, who am I to stand in her way?” I

ask and she smiles brightly.

“So. It’s okay if I join Anthony’s pack?” She asks and the small smile I had falters at her words. She didn’t even have time to think about staying in the royal pack. I clear my throat as her fear begins to build again. “Of course. You two are free to choose what pack you would like. Although, you haven’t had much time t think about it.” I say and Sofia bites her lip nervously.

“I have thought about it and would like to join the rogue pack.” She says and I nod my head, trying to hide my frown.

“Very well then. We can do the pack transfer now If you are ready.” I say and they both nod their heads

excitedly.

I move to my desk and log into my computer, printing off Sofia’s file. I grab the paper and a small knife and bring it back to the small coffee table.

“It is simple, Sofia you draw a small amount of blood and put it here next to your name. Then Alpha Evan and I will do the same and you’re good to go. I will send your file to Alpha Evan and take you out of our Active member folder.” I explain and she nods her head, wide eyed in anticipation. She pokes her index finger and places it next to her name on the page. Evan does it next and then I do it last. I feel Sofia’s pack bond dissipate and the other two must feel it connect because their breathing sputters.

The couple embraces and looks at Evan.

“Anthony, you have a room with a full bed, correct?” She asks and he nods.

“You two can share the room. If you don’t feel comfortable let me know and I will work out another arrangement.” She says and they both thank her and me and rush out of the office.

I sigh and slide the paper to Evan. She grabs it as I stand to go over to my desk.

“I need your email so I can send you her file.” I say and she nods her head.

“” she says as I type it in and send her the file.

“Xav? Is that your last name?” I ask and she shakes her head.

“You could only hope.” She answers and I nod my head once in response, fighting that uncomfortable feeling in my chest.

“We should probably let people know that they are welcome to choose what pack they would like if they find their mate. I am sure we have more couples out there.” She says changing the topic.

“Yeah I would assume you’re correct.” I say and she gasps then puts a hand to her heart.

“Did you just. You just said I am correct?! Oh mother goddess, what have you done with the argumentative as*hole, King Warrick?” She asks overdramatically and stares up at the ceiling. I snort a laugh in response. I see the transfer paper in her hand and it causes me to deflate. Evan must notice because she clears her

throat.

“Well I should get going.” She says as she turns around. I don’t know what caused me to interrupt her but I
