The Rogue Alpha and the Werewolf King (by Hailey Kristine) novel Chapter 60

Evangelina’s POV

I didn’t mean to anger him, but as I sat watching their training I realized that they weren’t ready for war. They were working on fancy moves and sparring in small sections, not everybody even got to spar. I noticed that some of the warriors were just going through the motions that they do this everyday and nothing changes, like they have the same partner every day. Don’t get me wrong they’re good, and I have definitely seen worse,

but it seems like they have become complacent.

After the practice ended everybody went to shower and change, except me. Warrick made his way to me after sending his trainers away. I couldn’t help but admire his build. He was strong, but not too muscular. The tight black tshirt he was wearing hugged his muscles very well. The veins on his arms weren’t bugged out like some people, they were just enough to give him a dangerous appeal. The ball shorts he had on showed his thick legs. When I made my way to his face, it was set in a scowl that seemed almost permanently etched on

his handsome face.

Let’s go.He grumbled as he walked past me. I huffed and followed suit, walking next to him.

After what felt like forever I broke the tension.

Look. I apologize for upsetting you, I just think that your training could be a bit harder.I say and I feel the anger start to build in him.

Like what? Putting silver on my men and beating them to a pulp? And you say I am the one who is unreasonable and an as*shole. He scoffs and I smile slightly.

“My members know not to act up. We are preparing for war not working on fancy moves to show off. Training needs to be treated as such. They know the punishment for taking things too far.I reason and he scoffs

again.

I can’t believe that they still respect you when you punish them that way.He says and I stop, he walks a few steps then turns around when he realizes that lam no longer walking. I march up to him, Veena barely being

controlled by my rage.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WE ARE GETTING READY FOR WAR, IF YOU WANT TO BABY YOUR MEN THEN GO AHEAD BUT DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT HOW I HANDLE MY PEOPLE!I yell and he flinches. They- respect me because I take this seriously. I have their safety in mind and they know this. Training is hard, and it is supposed to be. People will die if it is not taken seriously. On top of that, people still come to me, even when I am hard on them. What does that tell you?!I ask and he looks in shock at me, then runs a hand through his hair.

“I. I didn’t. I know that your people respect you and I just don’t understand. You put them in silver for goddess sakes, how are they not terrified you would lash out and do it because you want to?He asks and I sigh. Silver is scary for wolves if they are not used to it.

Listen. Like I told Jaxon, the silver really only zeros out their gifts and shifting. It doesn’t truly hurt them, I have made sure of that. New people do get scared when they see, but they quickly learn the reasoning and not to be scared. My people trust me, they know the reasoning behind all of my craziness, and they know they can ask questions. I do not lash out at the smallest inconvenience and I try to be kind. I know that it was a surprise, the way I handled my men but I did not break a bunch of bones or anything like that. They were so

bloody because I broke their noses and you know that gushes like the river of flezna. They are taught to kee fighting until they can’t. That is why they kept coming after me. I do not wish to hurt them and they know this they messed up and received their punishment.I try to explain and I see his hard eyes soften slightly.

Let’s just get this tour over with.He says and turns around to start walking. I follow beside him and after a few moments he breaks the silence this time.

What did you observe? He asks, almost in defeat.

I saw potential. Your men are good, but not great. In order to win the war with little casualties they will need to be great. It also helps that my pack has so many species because there are more advantages other species have. They will be able to figure those out and the weaknesses they may have.I answer and he nods his head. The other thing we will need to figure out is the training schedule and the others. Everybody needs to be in training, they need to know how to defend themselves.I say and I see his nose scrunch. How would we even do that?He asks and I smile slightly at his openness for change.

Well, we will split up classes based on skill, also on age. THen run training all throughout the day having designated trainers for each level.I answer and he nods his head.

Say we do that. How will we test each person’s skill? He asks. And that is how the tour went. He would point out different buildings and areas, while we both asked questions and planned out the training schedule. It was quite nice to be able to speak with him without either one of us riling each other up. On our way back to the castle from the main shopping square we hear a woman yelling. Warrick! Wait. Baby slow down.” The voice says as they walk towards us. The woman with shoulder length dark brown hair and bright green eyes sauntered up to us. She glares at me and begins speaking. Immediately I want to shut her nasily mouth up.

Baby what are you doing? I was looking for you this morning and you weren’t around. What are you doing with her?Hadley asks in disgust.

“First off I was training this morning and secondly Evan needed a tour and Jaxon was busy.He answered and her face scrunched up in disgust.

You told him he needed to be the one to do it. He should have done it then.” She says and Warrick sighs, stepping towards her and pulling her into his chest. The sight of him comforting that little demon dog caused a shock to my heart.

I’m gonna go back. Thank you for the tour. I will let the group know what we decided with training and border patrol.I say and turn around to walk away
