Chapter 69
Chapter 69
Evangelina’s POV
During the tour, which took 4 hours, Iris and the twins joined us about 2 hours in. I noticed that Jax was giving me weird looks, which made me and Veena uncomfortable.
After we reached the front of the new extension it was almost time for dinner.
“Jax, you can join us for dinner if you would like. I need to go around and check on something before I join you all though.” I say and he nods his head excitedly as him, and a few others walk to the dining room. Almost as if they sensed I wanted to speak to them. Henry and Iris stayed behind. They both looked at the group curiously as they entered the front door. As soon as it closed they both looked at eachother.
“Okay. Is it just me or is he acting weird? I don’t know him as well as you two do so I can’t say for sure.” I ask honestly.
“Oh no, it isn’t just you. He is acting very strange.” Iris says and looks at Henry for confirmation.
“Yeah he is. He was giving you too much attention and almost longing looks.” Henry says and shivers at the thought.
“Hey! He is a good man and would make a perfect mate for Evan.” Iris says and I shake my head.
“Iris you know I..” I start then she interrupts me.
“You don’t want that, I know.” She says waving a hand in the air, dismissing the thought.
“I was only defending his character, not insisting that you mate with him.” She informs me and I nod my head
in understanding.
“Well since that is out of the way. How do I handle this?” I ask them and they both look at each other and
then shrug.
“I don’t know. This is a new one for me. Normally he isn’t so blatant about showing interest in a woman. His normal flings are just s*x, not dating. He wants to wait for his mate for anything more than that. I am not sure why he has changed his mind.” Henry says, grimacing when he realizes Iris hears the s*x part and she
scoffs.
“Honey I know he fools around. And I know what s*x is, I have 3 children. But Henry is right about that. Maybe he doesn’t think he will find his mate and would rather take a choice? I am not sure..” She says and I look at
her curiously.
“You said at the picnic that you thought he liked me. You had an inkling.” I say and she rolls her eyes.
“I was giving you a hard time. I knew that Jax was waiting for his mate, but thought that say. nat would make you think about taking a chosen mate. You know, opening yourself up for the possibility.” She says and I eye her skeptically.
“You were manipulating me?” I ask and she squints at me.
“You say po–tay–toe I say po–ta to.” She says and I roll my eyes at her.
“I would just be clear with him. You don’t want anything more than friendship. He is a big boy. He can handle it.” Henry says, interrupting the quarrel with Iris. I huff in response.

“Okay. I’ll try that. Thanks.” I say as we head up the stairs and to the dining room.
We enter and get food then walk to our table. I had the tables set up differently so that the ones on the platform hold the dessert table and we have a table on the same level as my pack, I am surprised to see that there is a teen girl that resembles Jaxon sitting there.
As we walk up to the table, the girl stands, bowing her head to me as I look at her in question.
al
“You don’t have to do that, this isn’t a formal setting.” I say and she looks up in surprise then around the
table, narrowing her on Nali and Tall. They laughed and the girl blushed. I take a seat, placing my plate
and cup in front of me. The girl takes a seat and looks down in embarrassment.
“I don’t think you two will be laughing at training tomorrow.” I say and eye the twins. They quiet quickly and wear weary smiles on their faces.
“We were just messing with her. She is like a little sister to us. We needed to make up for the time lost.” Nali says and I smirk.
“Oh. If that’s the case then you are off the hook.” I say cheerily and Nali lights up.
“Really?!” She asks, while Tail shakes her head.
“Can’t you read sarcasm. We are getting our as*ses handed to us in training tomorrow.” Tali says to her sister and Nali deflates.
“One could hope.” Nali says.
“You two and anybody else who was involved.” I say looking around the table to see Linc and Marie look down. Yup them too.
“Evan, this is my sister, Reana.” Jaxon states, clasping his sister on the shoulder. She looks up and her burnt orange eyes look into mine. Her neck length, light brown curls bob with the movement of her looking up.
“I have met her, but haven’t had the chance to interact with her.” I say to Jaxon who nods in response. “It’s nice to have you here Reana.” I say and she nods,
“Thank you, Alpha.” She responds and I tisk.
“None of that. You can call me Evan. Everybody else at this table does.” I say and she nods, while looking around. I see a slight surprise on her face when she sees Iris.
“So how was training today?” I ask and she smiles.
“It was great! I was actually able to work on my fire. Mr. Monte helped me focus and showed me how to use it , effectively.” She answers and I smile. Monte is my trainer who works with children and teens who have the gift of fire.
“Good. I am glad. Monte is a good man and an excellent trainer.” I say and she nods her head. I notice Jax eyeing her skeptically.
“You were able to control your fire?” He asks and she nods her head excitedly.
“Am I missing something?” I ask and look around the table. They all wear knowing expressions.
“Reana has always had a hard time controlling her fire.” Tali says and I look at Reana. She looks a little sad now as she nods her head in agreement.
“After mom and dad died I lost control and fire spread through our whole apartment. Since then I have been

taking medication to dull my ability. Today Spark, my wolf, told me not to take it.” She answered and I nodded. my head.
“Well I am glad that you did well in training and look forward to seeing what you can do.” I say and she smiles and nods her head.
“Well looky here, we have gasoline joining us tonight.” Mason says, pulling out the last chair next to Iris. “This one is a force to be reckoned with. I think she will be going to your session soon.” Mason says to me and I
smile.
“We will be happy to have her.” I answer and he smiles.
The rest of dinner goes by with jokes and conversation. I don’t miss the way Mason and Iris banter with each
other, which made me smile. What didn’t make me smile was the look that Jaxon was giving me throughout dinner. The group makes their way out of the dining room. Jaxon actually brushes his arm against mine almost to test me. I fight from pulling my face in disguise, he is not my mate.
