The Rogue Alpha and the Werewolf King (by Hailey Kristine) novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70

Warrick’s POV

All day I have been trying to work, but was not able to. All I could think about was Evan and pounding Jaxon’s face in. Hadley has been laying down. She is extremely sore from training, so I couldn’t even have her company to distract me from my thoughts.

1 look up and see that it is finally time for dinner. I almost bolt up, wanting to see Jaxon and what he has been doing today. I just can not seem to wrap my head around why Jax wants Evan. He was waiting for his mate. I don’t understand what changed.

Maybe he realized that she is perfect in every way.Viggo says dreamily, then growls, remembering why he was talking about Evan. Another man wants her and it shouldn’t come as a surprise, she is pretty great. But dammit to hell if I’m not jealous as sh*t.

I all but ran down the stairs to our normal dining room. When I enter I am very surprised to see that I am the first one there. I go over to the bar in the connected sitting room and pour myself a vodka. I don’t understand why my nerves are on edge.

After about 5 minutes of me standing there pacing, the door opens and I am calmed slightly, but more deflated than normal by the scent of Hadley. She saunters to me and puts her hand on my chest.

You look like you’re feeling better.I say as I take a sip of my vodka. The sneer that takes over her face mars

her beauty.

Oh, don’t remind me. I had to have two baths and a 2 hour massage to get rid of the aches. She says, which surprises me. Her being of Alpha blood should have healed the aches quicker than most, but I guess if you don’t train regularly then you will have aches for a while.

Well, count on doing the same thing tomorrow.I say and she scrunches her nose. Before she could say anything I noticed Henrietta and Jay walk into the dinning room and take their seats. They are in silent conversation. I walk towards the room as Hadley follows me. We take our seats and then dinner begins.

I look around curiously and my anger bubbles slightly at the fact that Jax is not here. Hadley puts a hand on mine and I look into those green orbs.

Are you okay? She asks and I clear my throat.

Yes. I was just wondering where Jax and Reana were.” I answer and she nods her head in understanding. I’m sure they’re just running a little behind.Hadley answers and as normal she calms the storm inside me, not fully, but quite a bit. I take a bite of my salad and look towards Jay and Henrietta. I see the two exchanging nervous glances, but they don’t say anything and begin eating. I ignore it, continuing to eat my

salad.

When dessert began, my leg started bouncing in anticipation. Something wasn’t right.

I thought you said that they were probably running behind?I ask Hadley and she looks around as.. to figure out who I was talking about.

Oh. Maybe they’re busy.” She answers with a shrug. That answer made sense, but somehow I knew deep down that something was off. Jay cleared his throat and I looked over at the man. I don’t miss the elbow that

Henrietta throws him. He winces, but isn’t deterred.

Jaxon and Reanna have joined the Rogue pack for dinner. Reanna told us before she left. She was quite excited to see the girls.Jay says and my anger bubbles. Why am I angry? I don’t know. I have no right to be.

I stand up abruptly and head for the door.

Wary, where are you going?Hadley asks and her normally angelic voice actually grates my nerves,

I need to speak with Evan about training.I answered and she stood up too.

I’ll come with you.She says and I turn towards her.

You can’t even make it through the run, why would I want you to go with me to discuss the training when you can’t even complete one session?I snap and I immediately feel bad, but don’t apologize. She squeaks then runs out of the door and up the stairs. I sigh and run my hand through my hair, I am going to have to remedy

that.

I stomp through the castle and when I reach the main area of the new extension. I follow Evan’s scent, but it’s everywhere here so I try to follow the strongest path.

I make my way to the dining room and am surprised to find that the set up in here has been changed. It is buffet style and there are tables everywhere holding pack members.

I am even more surprised to see that some of my pack members are sitting in here laughing and talking with the Rogue pack. It quieted significantly when I entered, but those who didn’t notice me continued their conversation. I turned, not acknowledging the members and followed Evan’s scent out the farther door. When I step out of the door I turn and see Jaxon walking out of one of the bathrooms with a goofy grin on his face. He doesn’t even see me as he turns and walks down another corridor. Evan exits the bathroom next, her face impassive and I am livid.
