Chapter 9
Evangilina’s POV
As soon as the door closes I breathe a sigh of relief. My pack is here. The girls look at me with fear in their eyes.
“Girls, your brother will be okay.” I assure them.
“You don’t know that.” The one I learned is Nalissa says.
“I do know that.’ I say and before anybody could say anything else the electricity in the room flickers making the girls scream.
I tune their scream sob out and pull the air molecules from outside toward us, combine that
with the bolts of electricity being thrown against the glass, as well as the natural molecules of
the glass being pushed, and the window shatters inward. The girls scream even louder and I turn to them smiling slightly, guarding them from glass and trying to ease their fear.
“It was nice meeting you both. Be good and don’t get into any more trouble.” I tell them before
I make my way towards the window.
“Wait where are you going?” Talissa panics.
“Home. Thank you for being so nice to me. Always keep your open mind and treat all people
with kindness until they prove otherwise.” I say to them and look out of the window to see a
vine has made its way up the side of the castle. I grab the vine and slide down. When I land,
the vine goes back in place. I look around to see the coast is clear and shift into my wolf,
running to the forest line. When I get there I see Dalya, my transporter, Marie, one of my
Gammas, and Lincoln by Beta. Once I reach them and shift back, Dalya grabs my hand and
Lincoln’s. He is also holding Marie’s. We disappear into a black abyss then reappear on the
outskirts of our pack. Dalya disappears again only to, moments later, return with all of the
witches that I am guessing were at the east border of the kingdom. There were 15 in total.
Dalya is able to transport up to 20 people ten times before she passes out from using too
much power. She is the most powerful transporter I have met.
“Welcome back alpha.” Linc, my childhood friend says.
“Thanks.” I say and pat him and Dalya on the backs. “Thank you all for coming to get me. I really appreciate it.” I say, looking at all of them and they all smile and say some version of
course or no problem.
We start to walk back towards our border and when we get there, the veil opens to reveal our

home. We have put together a veil like border around our village that masks it.

To the naked eye it looks like the rest of the forest. Everything we have is on another plane
and if a person walks through our veil, they will walk straight through it with no effect and
continue on into the forest. They can only enter if the veil is lifted for them. We are able to look
out to see through the veil, kind of like a mirror that you can see through one side and it is a
reflection on the other.
As I walk to the pack house I feel a pang of panic, then anger. It doesn’t take me long to figure
out it belongs to King Warrick, my mate. Then I feel guilt and sadness. This doesn’t belong to
him though, it belongs to me.
I sigh as I walk up the porch to our log cabin pack house. It is a three level home that contains
a large kitchen and dining room with enough round tables to seat around 300 people. The first
floor holds all of the offices, kitchen, dining room, game room, laundry room, extra bathrooms
and some guest rooms. The second floor holds all permanent rooms for some of our house
maids, cooks, and anybody else who wants to live here. The third floor holds the Gamma’s,
Beta’s, and Alpha’s families. Two of the three of my Gamma’s have a mate, only one of which
has a child. Then there is me and my Beta, Linc, who do not have mates or families.
As I walk in I am greeted by the smell of roasted chicken and fresh rolls.
“You joining us for dinner?” Linc says from the side of me. I look over to see his bright green eyes looking at me with concern. His jaw is tight as he observes me.
“No, Linc. I think I am going to go change and then to the office. I ate before you got to me.” I
answered. He looks at me questioningly.
“You ate.. Before you left?” He asked with one of his eyebrows raised.
“Yes.” I say with no explanation and continue to my bedroom. I pass a few pack members on
the way, each of them greeting me.
When I reach my room I turn on the light and sigh again. I take in the wood and smell and the
plain interior. I have a full size bed with a small arm chair in the corner next to a small
bookcase. There are night stands on either side of the bed, each with a lamp. There are no
personal items hanging around and no other decorations. There is also a walk out balcony
covered with blackout curtains.
I walk into my closet and grab some sweatpants and a baggy T–Shirt. I then walk into my
bathroom and wash my face. After I am done I look into the mirror. My eyes are more dull than
