Chapter 10
Evangelina’s POV
I look into Linc’s neon green eyes, then to Mari’s deep purple, then look down at the floor.
“The mission didn’t go as planned.” I say and I hear Marie scoff.
“Obviously it didn’t. What happened?” She asks, concerned. They have never seen me act this
way. I clear my throat before I begin.
“As you both know, my vision was about the princesses. I needed to save them before they
were taken. Well, when I got there I saved them, then like I do when dealing with children, I
walked them back to their pack. Just to the outside of the forest line so I could watch them
arrive safely. When I saw that they were safe, warriors were running in my direction. I took off,
but quickly encountered a rogue in their pack lands. It took too much time for me to kill him
and by the time he was dead the warriors caught up to me. I surrendered and they took me to
the cells and tortured me. After which the Alpha King came down to the cells, probably to get
me to talk. When he entered they just injected me with wolfsbane, which stopped the healing
that my wolf was doing. When he came into view I started to black out. He took me to their
hospital and when I woke up I.. I found out that he is my second chance mate. The only thing
is when I met his eyes and recognized him I had a vision of him rejecting me, and then I died.
After I was healed enough to be released I was taken to the castle, showered, changed, ate
then went to his office. He was asking me for my name to reject me when you guys arrived
and I escaped.” I say and look up toward both of them. Linc is just staring at me, wide eyed
and jaw open, while Marie is studying me. After a few moments Marie’s eyes narrow.
“That b*stard. I’ll kill him.” She says angrily and stands up.
“Marie, no.” I order and she stops mid step and looks at me, surprised.
“He didn’t reject me so I am fine. I am back and we will go on like nothing happened.” I told
her. She scoffs, but doesn’t move.
“Evan, it isn’t as simple as continuing like nothing happened. There is a reason he is your mate. You can’t just ignore him, the bond is there.” Linc says, and I sigh.
“That is what we are going to do. Don’t tell anybody about the mate part, we will continue our training and offer our help to other packs. The King being my mate doesn’t change anything.” I
say.
“But what if he comes looking for you?” Marie asks.

“He won’t.” I answered confidently.
“But what if he does?” Linc probes.

“He won’t. He was so disgusted with the fact that a rogue was his mate, he made their Gamma cover me with a scent blocker before we left the hospital. I also heard the Gamma telling the hospital staff that saw me to not tell anybody about me. The King will not come looking for me, because I am nothing to him. The bond that we share was enacted, but with the distance and in time, it will be as if there is nothing missing. Only like there is a very small piece of him missing. I am able to keep any emotions and pain I endure on just my side of the bond. One of the many things I was taught after I mated the first time. It will be like I am not
even there, like I was a figment of his imagination.” I assure them. I see Linc nod and look
toward Marie. She still has her eyes narrowed on me. Assessing if I am telling the truth. I don’t
know what she saw, but she was satisfied enough to plop back down in my arm chair. I
breathe a small sigh of relief when I realize that this went better than expected.
I turn to Veena. “You think what I said is true right?” I ask.
“Yes, I do believe that the King will not look for us. You were right in your assumptions.” Veena
answers and I smile slightly, turning my attention back to the two people in my room.
“So what did I miss while I was gone?” I ask and I see them both look at each other, silently
asking if they should tell me. After a moment Linc sighs and runs a hand over his face.
“Northridge pack is asking for sanctuary, Midnight Pack wants to send some warriors for
training, we need to find another pack to trade with for more oats, the crimson vampire coven is needing help regarding technical resources, and there was a fight at the school that needs
to be addressed.” Linc finally says. Holy sh*t that is a lot.
“All of this in the two days I have been gone?” I ask and they both nod their heads in confirmation. “Why is it when I am gone people reach out? It’s like there is a big bell that rings
when I leave.” I say and Linc chuckles.
“Well you are a popular person. You are the go to person for help in a vast amount of areas.”
He responds.
“Yeah and it’s not like the royals help with any of that stuff. They stay in their own land and pack. They are the strongest after all.” Marie scoffs and I sigh.
It is true, the royal pack really does stay to themselves and it is extremely hard for the ‘lesser‘ packs to receive help, especially if they are over the 100 mile radius. The royal pack is supposed to help other packs, may it be with training, protection, trade, disputes, money,
anything really, but they don’t.
