Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1847

Debra snapped back to reality. "I don't know him."

"I'm her fiancé," he said blandly.

The class teacher blinked. In all her years, she had never had a fiancé show up as a parent.

Clearing her throat, she said, "Well, Debra has been smoking at school. It's severe misconduct. As her guardian, I hope you can rein her in."

Juan's gaze landed on Debra. "Smoking?"

"I was just messing around," she muttered, sounding scared but showing no fear.

Fiancé or not, he had no right to control her.

He turned back to the teacher. "I'm sorry for what happened. I'll give her a good talking-to."

He glanced at his secretary and ordered, "Pack her bag and have the driver ready."

"Yes, sir." The secretary nodded, heading to grab Debra's things.

"I've got plans after school to hit the arc..." she grumbled.

Juan's sharp glance cut her off. She clammed up and followed behind him.

As a bodyguard opened the car door, she asked warily, "Where are you taking me?"

She snuck a glance at him. Sure, they were engaged, but it was just a deal their families made.

Her family had connections in Seamar City, but she didn't think she was so valuable to him. In fact, this was her first time meeting him. He didn't look much different from the guy on TV.

...

When they arrived, Debra was amazed by how massive the Nichols Group headquarters was.

The secretary led her to the president's elevator. "Mr. Nichols has an important meeting to attend. Miss, we've set up a lounge for you. You can do your homework there. He'll take you home after."

"Can't I go home now?" she asked.
