Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1863

"Sir, why have you been..." Barton trailed off.

He shouldn't ask, but Andrew had clearly been distant with Debra lately.

"You think I'm not caring about her enough?" Andrew asked.

"Not exactly." Barton couldn't pinpoint it.

Andrew still cared about Debra, but something felt different.

He leaned back in his chair. "I don't want her to just see me as family. You get that, right?"

Barton's eyes widened.

For years, everyone had taken Debra and Andrew's engagement for granted. They all knew Debra would marry Andrew after graduation.

Debra knew it too. No one had ever questioned it. They just patiently waited for the day to come.

Now the wedding was close, but Andrew seemed to have changed into a different person.

"Miss Frazier relies on you," Barton said.

"She does," Andrew admitted.

He wouldn't force Debra to do anything, including love him.

He continued, "So, I'll give her time to figure it out. If she doesn't want this engagement, I'll respect her choice."

Barton was stunned. Everyone knew Andrew was the most important person in Debra's life.

At Maple Hotel, Jordan and Debra had been waiting for Erica.

"Guys, full and happy? We're hitting up round two," Erica shouted.

Her reputation in the circle got the crowd cheering.

"Isn't Andrew coming? Where are you taking us?" Debra asked, uneasy.

Jordan shared her suspicion. With Erica, nothing was ever simple.

"You're adults now. Time to hit up adult places," Erica said with a playful wink. "Follow me. I'm covering the tab tonight."

Jordan muttered, "I've got a bad feeling about this."

"Me too," Debra echoed, her nerves showing.

They wondered what kind of place she was talking about.
