Goodbye, Mr. Ex: I've Remarried Mr. Right novel Chapter 1882

Drake didn't take Robert's words seriously, but soon, people in the other teams started killing each other.

He finally saw the gravity of the situation. They were sworn brothers, but survival meant fighting for the top spot.

Marion shone, his brains and brawn far beyond that of the slum roots. Sometimes, Drake wondered about his past.

Marion didn't seem like a street kid. He knew high-society manners and played their games better than the slickest crooks. In six months, he became Shawn's top pick for heir.

Lillian asked curiously, "What happened next?"

Drake blew a smoke ring and winced. "He screwed over Robert and me."

Lillian's eyes widened. "How?"

"Ask your dad," Drake said, leaning back.

Even after 20 years, he couldn't forgive Marion for that. The betrayal still cut.

If Marion had just been just another rival, they wouldn't have held the grudge. But he was their sworn brother.

Theda, flushed from drinking, slumped into Robert's arms. "In drinks, they can't beat me."

Robert sighed. "Let me take you home."

"No way. I was holding back. 20 years ago, you'd be at the kids' table," Erica slurred, wilder than Theda.

Randy steadied her. "You're not young anymore. Enough booze and time to go home."

"Uncle Jordan, how badass was my dad back then?"

"Why do you ask?"

"I wanna know. Spill it."

She shook his arm, and he chuckled, "He was my hero back in the day."

"You can't be serious."

"Andrew and he were quite close, but I didn't know about that. I just heard rumors about him when he was overseas."
