Every major turning point in her life, every moment she needed help, someone else had been there for her. As her husband, he had not only been oblivious but had actively stood in the way of her pursuing her dreams.
Timothy wished he could turn back time, go back seven years to the first moment he saw her. But time couldn't be rewound. What was done was done.
As Jessica slipped into a deeper, more peaceful sleep, he leaned down and pressed a kiss to the back of her hand. Perhaps her pain wasn't at its worst yet. He couldn't imagine what it would be like when it intensified.
His lips lingered on her skin, unwilling to pull away. After another moment, he finally let go and, with a heavy heart, turned and left the room. The moment he stepped outside, his strength gave out. He slumped to the floor, his back against the wall, his eyes vacant and lifeless.
When he remembered her crying out, “Timothy, it hurts so much,” he felt as if he could hear his own heart shattering. Why couldn't pain be transferred from one person to another? He would have gladly taken it all for her.
He lowered his head, and two tears fell onto the fabric of his trousers, spreading into dark spots. He clenched his fist and pounded against his aching chest.
He stayed there until a pair of shiny leather shoes appeared in his line of sight. He looked up to see Vince looking down at him, offering a hand. Timothy took it and let Vince pull him to his feet.
“Herbert has arranged for some food. Let's eat first, then you can go.”
“I’m not hungry. By the way, has she remembered anything about her childhood?”
“No, she only calls for you in her sleep. When she's awake, we've asked, but she says she doesn't remember anything.”
If she ever did remember, if she knew they had grown up together and then, by a twist of fate, had actually married, would it only deepen her sorrow? Timothy felt like a villain.
“I should go now. You’re busy.”
Timothy went to the changing room, removed the sterile gown, and left. He needed to get to the Howard family's residence as quickly as possible and convince Sheila to donate.

The readers' comments on the novel: Goodbye, Mr. Regret
Dear autho, What happened to this novel? At least continue until the part where Jessica finds her peaceful life with her newly found family. And her ex husband dies in regret....
Just let Jessica divorce that scumbag so she can begin anew. Gosh! All that nonsense with that guy was so unnecessary....
Finally someone teaching Henry a lesson...
Any new updates. Please please let Jessica finally have a new life with her long lost family...
Wow .... finally!...
The plot of this novel is like an elevator. Its up then down, then up to be back to down again after. Same story. No interesting twists, always the same... naive Jessica, villain Timothy, so when can we have a refresher?...
