Goodbye, Mr. Regret novel Chapter 620

Sandra thought she must have misheard him. “You’re saying Jessica has liver cancer? Since when?”

“About five months now,” Timothy replied, his voice heavy.

Sandra nearly staggered. “This happened five months ago? Why haven't you said a word about it until now? Don’t tell me you only just found out.”

“That’s right.” He didn't try to hide it; it was the truth.

Sandra couldn't help but scold him. “No wonder she wanted a divorce! How could you not know something as huge as her having cancer!”

“Grandma, you can tell me more when I get back. We’re in a hurry.”

“Which hospital is she in? I’ll go with you. I need to see her. This is so worrying.”

“She’s in intensive care. You can't see her right now. We’ll talk after the surgery. I have to go.”

Sandra looked at Sheila, her heart full of gratitude. “Sheila, thank you for being willing to do this for Jessica.”

“Mom, Timothy said it’s urgent. We should go,” Sheila said, avoiding Sandra’s gaze. She hadn't done it out of goodwill but had demanded a condition from Timothy. Sandra didn't know that yet, and Sheila would let Timothy deal with the fallout later.

Having just gotten off a long flight, Timothy hadn't had time to adjust to the time difference. By the time he drove Sheila to the facility, it was already past midnight.

Herbert and Vince were shocked to see him arrive with Sheila so quickly.

Timothy saw Herbert and said urgently, “Can we do her pre-op tests now?”

He wanted Jessica to have the surgery as soon as possible. He couldn’t stand to see her so weak and in pain.

“Mr. Lawson, the tests are best done in the morning on an empty stomach. This isn't the right time. Besides, a donor needs to be well-rested before the procedure. Let’s get Miss Howard admitted for the night, and you should get some rest too.”
