**The Unseen Kingdom That Followed Me Into Every Dream by Alyndra Meron Valeen**
**Chapter 224**
“I simply cannot fathom what spell he has cast upon you, Mrs. McKay,” Victor spat, his voice quivering with a mix of rage and jealousy. “Why do you stand so resolutely in defense of this underachieving good-for-nothing?” His words dripped with contempt, each syllable a dagger aimed at the heart of his rival.
What was it about this man that had ensnared the affections of the woman Victor desired? Why was this old man—whom he had tirelessly sought to impress—suddenly turning against him? Was he truly so repulsive that he could not compete?
Victor’s glare was a storm directed at Sebastian. “Tell me, how much longer do you intend to perpetuate this charade, you imposter? My father could have easily sidestepped your presence and dealt directly with Baron Inc. You’ll find yourself rendered obsolete before long. When that day arrives, what will you have left to cling to?”
Jack and Sandy, ever eager to join the fray, interjected with their usual fervor.
“Exactly! What he said! Mr. Blanc is offering you multiple opportunities to step aside! Why can’t you just be clever enough to take them?” Jack’s voice rang out, dripping with disdain.
“Are you really waiting for the CEO of Baron Inc. to finish you off?” Sandy added, her tone sharp as a knife.
“You must think you’re some kind of brave rebel for angering the Goldmans, the Blancs, and our family!”
I stood there, unfazed, a smirk playing on my lips. They genuinely believed that Baron could rattle me. How naive they were.
“I feel a twinge of sympathy for Lawrence,” I mused aloud, shaking my head. “How did a man of such intelligence end up with this heir?” I sighed, allowing a moment of reflection. “Your father would wish he could do more than just dispose of you in a matter of minutes. You’ll see.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Victor shot back, his voice laced with mockery. “You’re still just bluffing while you’re the one on the brink of annihilation!”
