“You’re just a floor manager,” Joe snapped, his voice like ice. “Your job is keeping order–making sure nothing gets out of hand. Who gave you the right to question our guests?”

“Mr. Mull, I just—”

“The list you have only shows our regular guests. The people Mr. Slade invites personally?” Joe’s eyes narrowed. “That’s far above your clearance level.” He gestured to two security guards. “Get him out of here. What an embarrassment. How did we ever hire such an idiot?”

“Mr. Mull, please! I didn’t know she was Mr. Slade’s personal guest! I’m so sorry!” The suit guy was panicking now. He’d never even heard of Joseph personally inviting anyone!

He genuinely hadn’t known.
