130 Slap Anthony

The bodyguards backed away when they saw Joseph, quickly retreating behind Anthony without another word.

When Anthony noticed Joseph’s arrival, his arrogant attitude vanished instantly. He put on a polite smile and greeted him, “Mr. Slade, what a surprise meeting you here. I’m representing my grandfather at the event tonight.”

Joseph’s expression didn’t soften at the greeting. He stared at Anthony, his face growing even

more stern.

Landon could tell at a glance that this Anthony had been bothering Chloe. He glanced at Eugene’s dark, stormy eyes and knew things were about to get messy.

Still, this was Joseph’s territory–they had to let him handle it first.

Landon cleared his throat and stepped forward. “Well, Mr. Ruiz, you certainly know how to enjoy yourself. The party hasn’t even started and you’re already making trouble?”

Anthony knew a bit about Landon’s background–he was the domestic agent of Cosmos Group and had done business with the Ruiz family before. But he was just a regional manager, not the real decision–maker. So Anthony remained polite but distant.

“Mr. Voss, I just discovered something precious!” Anthony glanced at Chloe, unable to hide his smug grin. “People naturally pursue beautiful things, especially when they’re truly exceptional!”

Landon’s expression tightened at that.

“Sorry, I’m not following.”

He looked at Chloe with a gentle smile. “Ms. Lewis is my specially invited date tonight. So, Mr. Ruiz, what exactly are you referring to as ‘something beautiful“?”

Landon was hoping Anthony would take the hint and back down, saving everyone the embarrassment. Otherwise…

Anthony followed Landon’s gaze to Chloe and laughed loudly. “So she’s your woman? No wonder I’ve never seen such a stunning beauty before.”

Landon was rendered speechless.

“Well, since she’s yours, I won’t stand on ceremony. Good things are meant to be shared, right? Lend her to me for a couple of days! I promise I’ll treat her well.” Anthony’s eyes shamelessly roamed over Chloe’s body, mentally criticizing her dress for covering too much.

Landon’s face darkened completely. He stared at the smug Anthony and cursed him inwardly. He’d tried to give him a way out, but the fool just wouldn’t take it.

If Chloe were just his date, Anthony might have gotten away with it. But Chloe was someone Eugene liked.

Landon stole another glance at Eugene, who hadn’t shown any emotion throughout the exchange. That silence was more dangerous than any outburst.

Landon snorted. This spoiled man, always living a life of indulgence among women… Well, he’d chosen his own fate.

Seeing Landon remain silent, Anthony grew even more bold. He looked at Chloe and laughed arrogantly. “There’s never been a woman I couldn’t have—”

A loud slap landed hard across Anthony’s face, leaving a bright red handprint with every finger clearly visible. The blow was delivered with full force.

“Who dares to hit me?” Anthony shouted, stunned that someone would actually slap him.

“Shut your mouth, you brat.”

Hearing that commanding, furious voice, Anthony realized it was Joseph who had hit him and immediately fell silent.

“Mr. Slade, why did you hit me! I was just—”

SMACK! Another, even louder slap cut him off mid–sentence. Joseph’s palm struck again, and Anthony’s face began to swell noticeably.

“You reckless fool! Do you have a death wish?” Joseph roared. “Step aside and apologize to Ms. Lewis for your disrespect!”

“But I…” Anthony was seething inside. Him, the young heir of the Ruiz family, apologizing to some woman? Who was she anyway? He knew all the important families in Capaville, but he’d never heard of her. Clearly, she was nobody important.

“Apologize! Now!” Joseph commanded, his voice leaving no room for argument.
