Chloe met Selina’s gaze. “Yes, I’ll treasure it.”

“Don’t forget–you owe me a custom dress design next time.” Selina threw a friendly arm around Chloe’s shoulder, her personality as bold as ever. “Is anyone else starving? That auction felt endless. I’m seriously hungry.”

“Our Michelin–starred chef has everything prepared. Whatever you’d like to try, we have available,” Joseph said, personally heading to the dining area to summon the chef. He ordered several signature dishes and instructed they be brought to their private lounge when ready.

“Come walk with me–I spotted some amazing desserts over there.” Selina linked arms with Landon and demanded.

“Of course, whatever you wish. How could I say no to my little princess?” Landon joked, waving to Chloe and Eugene before heading toward the buffet with Selina.

Joseph returned and addressed Eugene respectfully. “We can wait in the VIP lounge first. The chef will bring your meals shortly.”

Eugene gave a slight nod, his gaze shifting to Chloe beside him.

“Shall we?”

“Mhm.” Chloe responded quietly, gently resting her hand on Eugene’s arm.

Tonight she was playing the role of Eugene’s plus one. Eugene was the main investor behind Cosmos Group. He put all his current liquid funds into the company just for her.

And with tonight’s bidding, he showed he totally trusted her.

How could she let him down now?

“Chloe!”

Just as they prepared to leave, an urgent voice called from behind.

That voice… It was Arthur.

Chloe’s expression darkened with clear annoyance. Seriously, why did this man constantly seek attention?

Chloe paused and glanced back at Arthur standing there.

He looked nothing like his usual composed self–his tie hung loose and he appeared visibly agitated.

“What do you want?” Chloe’s voice carried an icy chill.

Arthur looked at her, a flicker of regret in his eyes.

“Chloe, can we talk privately?”

Chloe let out a soft laugh, regarding Arthur with weary amusement. “Mr. Myers, we’re not on familiar terms. What could we possibly have to discuss?”

“Not familiar?” Arthur laughed bitterly at himself. “Chloe, is this your war of punishing me? Because I didn’t pay enough attention to you before, you’re treating me like this now?”

“Mr. Myers, you’re mistaken about me. I have no interest in hearing your self–reflection.” Chloe turned to Eugene beside her with a light smile. “Let’s go.”

“Alright,” Eugene responded gently, preparing to leave with her.

“Chloe, you left me because you found a wealthier man, didn’t you?” Arthur glared at their linked arms, his voice thick with anger.

Chloe froze mid–step. For a moment she’d thought he came to apologize, to express remorse. But nope- old habits die hard! He was no different.

Her grip tightened. She bit her lip, resisting the urge to punch Arthur hard enough to make him spin. Collecting herself, she turned back with a sweet smile. “Mr. Myers, my choice of partner–whether wealthy or not–is absolutely none of your concern, right?”

“You-

“Any guy who catches my eye gets my full attention. If a dude gets distracted by some flirty lines, he’s not smart enough for me. He wouldn’t even be worthy of polishing my shoes.” Chloe raised an elegant eyebrow. “Mr. Myers, before bothering other women, perhaps you should handle the ones already surrounding you.”

With that, Chloe didn’t linger. She departed with Eugene and Joseph.
