“Why are you just standing there? Come on, find a seat and join us!” Joseon urged Anthony with a bright smile, subtly hinting that he should seize this rare chance to be part of the group.

Anthony hesitated, then replied with a calm politeness, “Mr. Slade, I actually have some matters I need to attend to. I’ll take my leave now so I don’t interrupt your gathering. Enjoy your evening.” His tone was sincere, and he gave a courteous nod to everyone before quietly stepping away.

Joseph watched Anthony’s retreating back with a quiet sigh, feeling a pang of disappointment that Anthony hadn’t seen the opportunity right in front of him. Still, it was a relief that Eugene wasn’t pressing the issue any further.

“Here, try this wine,” Joseph said warmly, pouring drinks for everyone with a genuine smile. His enthusiasm was clear as he brought out his prized collection.

Landon picked up two glasses and handed them to Eugene and Chloe. “Mr. Slade is really showing off his treasured wines tonight. You can tell he truly cares about this gathering.”

Just as Chloe reached for her glass, Eugene quickly took it before she could. She looked at him, raising an eyebrow in silent question.

“Last time we went out, you mentioned you don’t enjoy alcohol,” Eugene explained softly. “This wine has quite a kick.” He then called over a staff member. “Bring her some fresh juice, please.”

Chloe was taken aback, her eyebrows arching in surprise. She had only made a casual comment, yet Eugene remembered every detail. Was that why he’d taken the drink from Anthony earlier?

“Hey, I can’t handle alcohol either,” Selina chimed in, giving Eugene a playful glare while twirling her glass. “So why aren’t you ordering juice for me? Some people definitely get special treatment.”

Eugene ignored her teasing completely.

Chloe felt a little awkward but also touched. Eugene’s attentiveness to even the smallest details made her feel truly cared for.

The conversation flowed easily after that. Selina shared stories about her family, especially her four older brothers.

She recounted how she once fell for a handsome blonde man, but on their very first date, all four brothers showed up and completely ruined it. The poor guy was so scared that he broke up with her on the spot, vowing never to approach her again.

“When will my destined partner show up? I really need my dream man right here and now!” Selina said with hopeful eyes.

Landon couldn’t help but tease her. “Forget it! With that stubborn streak of yours, you’ll never get married. And with those intimidating brothers of yours, who would dare come near you? No one would risk marrying you.”

Selina shot him a cold glare. “Say that again, and I’ll marry you right here and now.”
